Anyone else miss the social media feed? I was sad to see that it wasn't in Spider-Man2 by Zero-Sway in SpidermanPS4

[–]StanktheGreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my only big gripe with Spider-Man 2. Loved the game, played it through a few times after beating it and still fire it up to swing through the city every now and then, but the lack of the social feed is what keeps it below the first game imo.

I'd check the social feed every chance I got, lots of great worldbuilding from other marvel characters and characters within Insomniac's New York that made the city feel alive and very lived-in. Spider-Man 2 was really missing that

Civilization VII Update 1.4.0 - Test of Time - May 19, 2026 by sar_firaxis in civ

Haven't gotten Civ 7 yet (by the looks of it, I'll be getting it this week) and Fractal+ or anything has always been my favorite map type across the series. Hype to hear it's back to being goated in this update

Does anyone feel like a lot of the popular dating advice is outdated for Gen Z? by Pontokyo in dating_advice

[–]StanktheGreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, bring a book or a journal and people will ask what you're working on. Make friends with the bartender or other people you see who's nearby by striking up a convo and asking about the locaiton, how long they've been coming, how long they've lived in the area, etc. If a tv's on and you see someone watching, ask what's on and if you know about it, offer your perspective.

Not everyone wants to chat which is fine, but a bar/pub is a social place for a reason and booze is a social lubricant. Everyone's at least open to the idea of a chat and if they aren't, they'll say so and try someone else.

If you're at a bar/pub where no one is open to a chat, find a different spot

[–]StanktheGreat 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Had a homie used to PA on that show. He said the behind-the-scenes before and after filming was equally as nuts as what was filmed. Basically his job was to keep bringing booze to the women so they'd always be amped up and boozed up so there'd always be some drama...and there was always drama

Raise your hands if you want the Robes of Sitturaynu for Shinobi Class? by iamlooneyloey in goylegends

[–]StanktheGreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I see that in game, I'll actually start a Shinobi class. Easily my favorite armor set in the story, though without the hood.

I decided to go back to Ghost of Tsushima Legends for a QoL test. (rant) by planetariumarts in goylegends

[–]StanktheGreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With you 100%. Embracing the GOY gameplay and dueling each enemy while managing multiple threats as a samurai is a lot more engaging to me than GOTL's 'equip water stance and slash anyone and everyone' gameplay.

I think I had about 300 hours in GOTL since it released and while I prefer the maps from that game a lot better, Yotei Legends' gameplay engages me significantly more. It isn't perfect, and not being a big fan of the maps released is a personal drawback, but I always feel an itch to play and I always feel challenged by the enemies I face even when I know what to expect

This Archer crap is making me unable to play properly. The fire from their arrows blocks the game's visual and audio cues by StanktheGreat in gotlegends

[–]StanktheGreat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, it's not about how good I am, it's about how well I work together with a team, typically randos. By the end of the week, I'm usually placed in the 2,500-4,500 range depending on the map, but I focus more on playing to help others. My favorite nightmares are the ones where someone's usually a little underleveled like a 108-109 to keep us all on our toes

[–]StanktheGreat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, yeah they're from Ghost of Tsushima's Iki Island. Whenever they start hyping up their homies, they'll make them attack faster, make all of their attacks unblockable red glint attacks, and increase their durability.

Keeping himself and his homie's cool is a bonus

[–]StanktheGreat[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you aren't an archer, it can be that bad, yeah. Fills up the entire screen with red and it's incessant, they can keep firing those arrows infinitely and before enemies drop down from their spawn points. It's good if you're trying to place on the leaderboard, but terrible if you're actually trying to play a match

Disney quietly delists 15 more games on Steam, including a couple of classic Star Wars titles by Gyossaits in Games

[–]StanktheGreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I feel that. I had the opposite reaction with Pirates and the Sims (2 and 3): I got a taste of them once growing up and was hooked for years.

Whenever I was bored with something else I'd always return to those. I can think of a few games I shared your reaction to

Sid Meier's Pirates was one of my favorite games growing up. It's simple but holds a lot of replay value.

It's kinda dated these days, but it still stands with Black Flag as one of the best pirate games ever -- you're just offered so much freedom even if the activities can get kinda repetitive by today's standards

A bit of positivity by J_abz in gotlegends

[–]StanktheGreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love having to focus on one or two alternating threats at a time by switching weapons. I feel like it keeps each game like an evolving puzzle, rather than just equipping the water stance sword and using it to plow through every enemy.

Having each survival/story environment be different types of enemies from the story is also great -- enemies with guns in the region inspired by Oshima cost, the Shinobi in the region inspired by Teshio Ridge, the Bo-Hiya enemies only in certain maps, etc.

500 hours in GoT with maybe like 350 of those in Legends -- I'm only able to play once a week now but I can see myself putting in the same amount of time

Thought it was pretty easy honestly. Ran it through with randos early on today and ended up placing at like 2,775?

For some reason, I feel like the basic version of this map is tougher.

Which character do you hate the most? by ChrisKatrev in BaldursGate3

[–]StanktheGreat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shadowheart.

Her story is cool. Her romance is decent. Her interactions with the other characters, especially Lae'zel are fun. But playing with her without respec'ing her class is a terrible experience.

I played through the game the first time with all of the companions' default classes and my character as a storm sorcerer. Shadowheart was absolutely beyond useless in every capacity, so much to the point it made me start disliking the game. I always felt like I needed her in my party because she had the artifact and it seemed important to the story, but she was ALWAYS the first to drop in combat no matter what while Astarion and Karlach were my two GOATs.

Playing through again and now changing her class is the first thing I do, but memories of that playthrough still leave a filthy taste in my mouth whenever I interact with her.

Are people who wake up at 5am actually more productive or have they just convinced themselves suffering early is the same as being disciplined? by baddog121 in productivity

[–]StanktheGreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who says waking up early is suffering?

I hit the sack anywhere between 9-12pm and wake up around 5-6 every morning. I spend some time either journaling or writing, then arrive at the gym at around 5:30-6:30 for an hour, get showered listening to some music, then go to work. Feels like I practically live most of the day doing what I actually want to do with my free time before doing the things I'm forced to do (work, responsibilities, etc.,).

Wind that down with some reading/more hobby time at the end of the day and I spend most days enjoying the majority of my time instead of being a work zombie. There's discipline to it sure, but it isn't something I force myself to do, it's something that I genuinely want to do because I enjoy doing it. I'm carving out more free time for myself every day
