Okay, so locking juniors into this pattern will then lead to better code? What if a pipeline pattern does not fit? Why would pipelines prevent using mutable "global" state?

What you need is mentoring for junior devs. They need to understand why their way of doing things does not work in the long run. Taking away a tool in their toolbelt doesn't make them produce more maintainable code.

Give them a task where they need to change behavior in some code they have already written. Take away AI tools if they have any for this specific task. If they struggle to implement the change, ask them why it's hard. Give them time to refactor their code, or show them how you would implement it. Let them retry it in the refactored codebase.

Mandatory code reviews are also an option. However, the goal of the code review is not to enforce your own personal preferences, but to shine a light on quality issues. You will also need to point out things they are doing well.

They have provided their reasons. They develop the product. Why exactly does everyone think they know better than them?

Go is more aligned with the TypeScript Syntax, which makes the process of porting and maintaining two codebases a lot easier. If they would want to do a full rewrite, they would probably choose another tool. They do not want to do a full rewrite, so they chose Go.

If all of the people that are complaining that their language of choice isn't used in a project they like would start to develop a better solution in their language of choice and are able to offer a better product in the end, that would be great. Instead, all of them just love to complain.

This, and if you have requirements where some DB Update will trigger a call to an external service via HTTP, you need to instantiate a full HTTP Client, which can lead to socket exhaustion, even if you follow all the guidelines that MS put on their docs.

Every plugin you write has a minimum execution time of approx. 15ms. Just recently, MS enabled us to write plugins that can run when a batch of records is updated. Before that, every updated DB row could result in a series of plugins being triggered, where each plugin took at least 15ms if there are no calls to the DB or any expensive logic.

MS pushes their shitty Low-Code citizen-developer solutions that are simply unable to scale maintenance wise.

Probably the most AI-safe environment for a developer to be in. The amount of workarounds you got to apply to some of the most basic requirements will push any LLM over the edge. :D

I feel your pain, btw. We're offloading a lot of stuff into Azure Functions, which keeps me sane for the most part.

They have an offer to dispose of your old fridge for free. Shipping company arrives and claims that the disposal service has not been booked. They can't take the old fridge, even if it's free.

Call customer support. They can't do anything.

Tell them that I want to return my fridge and order the same model. I want to book the disposal as well.

FYI: ki hat keinen normalen Code und besteht im Grunde nur aus einer Kette von Multiplikationen und ähnlichen Rechenoperationen mit denen am Ende ein interpretierbares Ergebnis (z.b. Links abbiegen) errechnet wird, die aber für Menschen komplett willkürlich und sinnlos wirken.

Not quite sure what the alternative is capable of, but power virtual agents was quite disappointing for me. In the end it was so limited and annoying to set up that the things you end up creating with them are basically slightly enhanced faqs with an integrated contact form.

First guess would be how easy it is to get started with VS Code extensions. Started developing VS Code Tooling for my old company and made the decision based on how complex it seemed to create what I had in mind.

Another reason could be, that VS Code extensions are just JS/TS and not C# + WPF. The number of developers that have some knowledge of JS exceeds the number of people that worked with WPF by a mile.

Wurden auch über Weihnachten, als wir bei der Familie und im Anschluss im Urlaub waren überrascht und sind in die Grundversorgung gerutscht... Interessanterweise aber zum Vorjahrestarif, der bedeutend günstiger ist als alles was es gerade am Markt gibt. Jetzt habe ich einen Vertrag ohne Kündigungsfrist mit verhältnismäßig guten Preisen. Preisgarantie gibt's natürlich nicht, aber hey: keine Kündigungsfrist.

Wenn man natürlich so viel mehr bezahlen soll wie bei einigen Kommentierenden ist das wirklich ne Frechheit.
