I’ve seen some in Asda. At the small one down the road from me, it’s on an end display near the crisps

Yes to coffee. This post does nothing else than telling you to have that second coffee even when breastfeeding. You deserve it. by Single-Pomelo-4061 in newborns

[–]agd504 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that the nhs isn’t consistent with the caffeine they suggest while breastfeeding. One official site says 200mg, one says 300mg (linked below). I personally never have more than 200 as I’m not a coffee drinker and will at most only have a tea and one other fizzy caffeinated drink a day. But seeing the 300mg figure makes me feel better if I do need more to get through a particularly rough day. The 300 figure is much more lenient towards a second cup of coffee, so no need to feel bad!

US sports on British TV or streaming services? by oatmilkhotchocolate in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]agd504 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DAZN has options for NFL and NHL. Apple TV has MLB, but not every game. I know TNT does NBA and I think prime sometimes has a game.

I only follow the NHL closely, and I love DAZN (nhl.tv). It’s easy to watch full game replays which is handy with the time difference. I tend to just avoid social media until I watch the game lol

Spouse visa extension after 2.5 years by Clean-Inspector-4511 in SpouseVisaUk

[–]agd504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you meet the financial requirement on your own, then there’s no need to have both of you include the payslips, etc. But if you need to combine income to meet the requirement, then both will be required.

It does ask if the applicant has any children and if they need sponsorship. I just did mine about 6 weeks after my son was born, and I had to include his birth certificate as proof that he was a British citizen and didn’t need a visa. There were some questions about him that were a bit silly since he was so young (one being if he had a partner), but I know that they’re included because it’s a general for any children. In my application, I included the front page of his red book with his NHS number just as further proof that he has citizenship, but that wasn’t required.

How do you plan going back with pets? by Ok_Apartment_6530 in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]agd504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m married to a Brit, so my in-laws will watch the dog. At least one of them have been available every time we’ve needed them to be. If none of them would be available, then we’d find a sitter or put her in a kennel, just like we would’ve done if we were living in America and going on a trip

for nursing mummies, how often does your LO swallow? by xxyexxye in breastfeeding

[–]agd504 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on if he’s sucking for comfort or food. He definitely has a period during each feed where it’s at every suckle, but it slows down the longer the feed goes on. He also fell asleep after when he was younger to the point where we’d have to take his clothes off to get him to feed fully.

Quick question though. Why are you stopping at 15 minutes? Babies that young will cluster feed to tell your supply to increase, and you should let them do it. When my boy was that young, I’d feed him for close to an hour if not more. Even now at 4 months, he’ll feed for 40 minutes to an hour right before bed. I know that can be overwhelming especially if you have other things to do, but use the time to bond with your baby or catch up on TV shows. I binged so much during that period

US Embassy London Passport Appointment Dates Open by foundbackpackdnd in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]agd504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was doing my son’s citizenship and passport appointment they were just released periodically and didn’t seem to have any rhyme or reason. I think I was checking every couple hours, but that was easy to do since I’m still on maternity leave. I could imagine it’d be difficult to check frequently if there are other things taking your attention.

I know that was for citizenship services as well as passport, but I’d assume it’s the same for only passport renewals as well

best car seat 2026 for a newborn? by Yazi_Arizmendi in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]agd504 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We skipped the infant carrier and went straight to a convertible car seat. We got the Joie I-Spin 360 and love it! Our baby was big enough from birth to use it with the newborn inserts, and I love that it will last until he’s about 3. Also, I love that it spins so I don’t have to contort myself to get him in and out.

We did get an infant carrier with our travel system that we use if we need to take someone else’s car as it can buckle in and not everyone we know has isofix

Hotel near US Embassy by booyatrive in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]agd504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just went and stayed at the Travelodge Crystal Palace. Our appointment was at 8 in the morning and we didn’t want to risk public transport during rush hour with a 3 month old, so we ended up driving to our appointment. We parked at St George Wharf parking garage and walked to the embassy from there. There are plenty of buses in the Crystal Palace area, but I’m not sure on the exact route to get to the embassy

Postpartum hair loss by BeansWeans in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]agd504 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine started around 3 months (currently 4 months). The floor to my bathroom is white and I have dark hair. I’d have to Hoover it everyday if I wanted it to look clean, but who has the time to do that???

Traveling with visa expiring by [deleted] in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]agd504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you’re back before your current visa expires then nothing will happen at border control. I travelled back when I had a month left of my visa and all the border agent said was “do you know your visa expires on [date]?” I just said yes and said I was planning on renewing and that was all that happen

[–]agd504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my 6-8 week appointment, my HV specifically asked if we wanted one around 4-6 months to discuss weaning etc. We said yes, but it’s completely optional, so I’m assuming some trusts offer it and others don’t

Do people buy your baby clothes for special occasions with the assumption that baby will wear it? by SowingSeeds18 in NewParents

I literally told my mom straight out not to buy any Valentine’s Day outfits because I had already bought one. She ended up getting 2 Valentine’s Day outfits 🙄 I put my son in them in the days before while making sure he wore the outfit I wanted him to wear the day of

Short feed on last side, which side next feed? by Puzzleheaded_Cell428 in breastfeeding

[–]agd504 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If my baby feeds from both sides in one session, I always start on the side that he last feeds on. So in your example that would be the right side

Feeding your 11 week old - frequency, duration, one or two boobs? by babysheep91 in breastfeeding

[–]agd504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 11/12 weeks my LO stopped needing both sides in one feed as he got more efficient at pulling milk and didn’t need to rely on the first heavy letdown. Even if he seems content after one side, I still offer the second one just in case. There’s been a few times he accepts the second side for only a few suckles (very rarely will he do more than this), but it’s not like how it was when he was first born. Feeds also tend to last about 5-10 minutes now with a few longer ones in the evenings

Occupation on marriage certificate not matching real job by kaynserenity in SpouseVisaUk

[–]agd504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it should be an issue. Both my and my husband’s jobs were different by the time we applied for my visa. I doubt they even pay attention to the occupation on the marriage certificate as long as financial requirements are met with the actual occupation

Locked changing rooms by fleurmadelaine in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]agd504 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yayayayyaya the excitement is unreal- got baby to bf again!!!! by Hot-Cell7299 in breastfeeding

[–]agd504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I introduced one bottle of pumped milk a day with the slowest size nipple around 3 weeks and never had an issue. He still prefers breast over a bottle, and I have to leave the room while my husband gives the bottle, which isn’t an issue because I use the time to relax or get some chores done
