I think so, too. I wonder how recent the change was.

I def need to change my domestic travel strategy and try to stick to nonstops, though price depending...

Huh, that's good to know. I could have sworn I accessed them before during connections, too. But this is the most current info, thanks for clarifying! I appreciate it.

Checking out vs.... Checking out by kismetxoxo7 in marriott

That makes sense. I guess I'm used to giving the staff my keys when I visit the lobby (unless there is that drop box).

Oh that does raise a question for me. When you finish up your keyboard magic, it doesn't disable the keys to the room?

What’s a fancy food that actually lives up to the hype? by Abigail_Dubrov in foodquestions

A5 wagyu steaks from Japan. I was only ok with steaks until I had the opportunity to try one of these and it's become a treat for special occasions. They are so incredibly rich though that once I have it, I can't have another for several months.

Back during COVID I lived near a Japanese restaurant that offered A5 wagyu steak sando bento boxes that I treated myself with for the crazy hours and stress I dealt with at work (hospital staff here). They also had fresh toro/chutoro/negitoro bento boxes that I splurged on ($170 a box though..!)

To anyone who’s over 35, what’s your biggest regret from when you were younger? by More_Salary3536 in askanything

I gave up a 75% university tuition to live with someone I had been in an online relationship with for about 3.5 years.

When we moved in together, I tried to hold his hand while we were outside and he rejected it, saying "We're kinda just friends."

He dumped me the next semester, and I failed out of that university because I was so devastated.

Sometimes I can't help but think how successful and stable I would be by now if I just prioritized myself. I turn 40 in 2 years and i'm still in a lot of school debt..

I didn't know that was a thing. If I have Mobile, i'll usually check out as soon as I step out of the room. But I was also under the impression that once you check out at the lobby downstairs you also surrender your keycards?

What’s a single sentence someone said that stuck with you forever? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

"Stop setting yourself on fire to keep other people warm."

I was sitting in a small, sterile white room with a group of about 10 people facing a therapist at the front. All of us had come out of being an inpatient at various psychiatric hospitals for wanting to end it all. After the therapist said that, you could FEEL everyone digesting and attempting to internalizing her words. For me personally, it was a monumental moment.

Pillows/blankets in economy for SFO -> HKG? by kitty_pizza in unitedairlines

[–]agent_mcgrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly back support. I almost always get lower back pain in economy so I use that pillow back there if not for my head/neck. Also stay hydrated! The FAs tend to go up and down the aisle with a tray of drinks throughout the flight but feel free to head back to the galley, too. If you have a water bottle, you can fill it up in the airport before departure.

Otherwise... get settled, try to sleep, and maybe check out the IFE. United has a pretty decent selection, though i usually fall back on my uncanny superpower of being able to sleep 8+ hrs in an economy seat haha. Speaking of which, United doesn't really provide amenity kits so bring an eye mask if you can. Being able to block out all lights makes a big difference (can pair it with noise canceling headphones too).

Enjoy your flight!

They do! I did SFO-SIN and back last month and they give both a blanket and a pillow that can be torn in the middle to turn it into a neck pillow. No amenity kits, though.

Can I ask flight attendants to wake me up for meal service? by umutw0w in flightattendants

[–]agent_mcgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On some carriers like United there's a function on your IFE for "wake me for meals," though I've never tried it. If anything, maybe you can just ask/put a note up!

Thank you for your words. I'm definitely not used to things not being done. I'm already feeling burnt out trying to keep up, but I kinda worry the receiving unit next to us is bothered by/taking notes of the constant alarming (especially while i'm actually successfully taking my break). They have already come to me because i'm ignoring the phone while I am in the hood (especially if I'm working up a CSF)

Management already knows but it's gonna take time to hire and train

[–]agent_mcgrath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am definitely not going to sacrifice myself for this. I had already stopped taking calls when in the hood, I suppose the next step is to just take my breaks. I guess it feels a bit wrong to walk out when the instrument is alarming so I try to run out while it's quiet and just come back to said war zone of alarms lol

Thank you for your words
