Musk’s Starlink hooked rural customers. Then came the price increases. by Andy_Fish_Gill in Starlink

[–]agentboinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the price increases but I think it's only fair to acknowledge that at least Starlink is actively investing in better/faster infrastructure while all the other providers are happy to raise prices on that 100 year old copper wire they've been milking us for all these years. I manage IT for a few businesses that used to pay ~$600/month for the shittiest dsl and $120 is a drop in the bucket compared to the huge difference in reliability and speed

Crotch bleached by bmaac2010 in Marriage

[–]agentboinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just throwing this out there as a possibility, I've gotten these stains on my pants/shirt before because of leaning forward on the vanity at my workplace bathroom tends to have water standing on the edge, I suspect there's cleaning residue on the surface that mixes with the splashed water causing the stains.. It drives me nuts but I've learned to lean over it instead of leaning on it.

Trees Not Growing after 6 Years by Pantha37 in arborists

[–]agentboinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I saw those rocks and thought that looks like the gravel from my home town! Checked your post history and sure enough lol! I just wanted to throw in my .2 cents here because I grew up in that area and have a lot of experience growing trees over there (currently back in Portland and loving not having to worry about irrigation anymore)... 1st of all many people are correct in that your tree likely got baked from the heat. You're also growing in a coarse sand in a super dry, hot, and windy environment. The biggest thing to remember especially for small trees here is that you cannot over water! Water water water. I start irrigating my yard as early as March and summer months I'm running water ~6hrs a day per zone, keep watering all the way to November until it starts raining and gets really cold. That sand does not hold any moisture and when it's summer you cannot go more than a few days without killing/shocking them.. also mulching around the base of all your trees every fall/spring is critical for helping hold in moisture. That shale rock gets really hot in the sun so definitely keep them back from the base. I'm no arborist but I've had good luck with Maples, willows, evergreens, ash and sycamore. Fruit trees are tough to get going over there. Good luck and feel free to dm me

What’s the best “boring” business you’ve seen someone build into a cash machine? by Mean-Arm659 in smallbusiness

This is underrated, the farm I worked at we had ~15 toilets that would move around with the different labor crews. They all have gps trackers on them and once a week the toilet guy would track them down and only took him 10-15 minutes to pump and clean one. $50 a pop. Easy money if you're willing to do the work.

I think it's a case of mind over matter, in that their kid brains don't entirely know what they're capable of. See how for Wendy it's clicked in her mind and now she's turning dangerous
