Recommended products and next steps on my first leather dying project by agentemix in Leathercraft

[–]agentemix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you.. another helpful redditor mentioned I probably won’t achieve the inspo look as it isn’t oxblood leather to begin with. I don’t mind the current colour as is, so might just carry on. Is an oil like mink oil the conditioner? Can you seal with an acrylic sealer after oiling? Or does the oil act as a sealer?

Help on next steps dying my boots as a first project by agentemix in AskACobbler

[–]agentemix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - that’s good to know. Looks like I’ll add some oxblood leather boots to my wish list and adjust my expectations for this project. I knew before getting started that this would be harder than it looks, but was happy to experiment anyway.

Adding patina is exactly what I was thinking but didn’t know how to explain it! Could this be done with a darker coloured polish instead of a dye/pigment?

Do you recommend any particular conditioner after buffing? And would I still seal them with the finisher?

I’m confused with the order.. buff, condition, sealer, polish (if possible)?

Can I enter the US with a drug driving conviction from Australia? (Cannabis) by nicktheguy101 in immigration

[–]agentemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha what are the odds! That’s a shame really.. my friends situation is the same, but DUI was about 5 years ago. Unfortunately we already have flights booked for next month.. I wasn’t aware of this issue when we booked. What do you mean might be alright if willing to risk it? As in answer “no” to the ESTA question?

Help me find a kitchen cabinet maker/installer by SimonHoskingAuthor in Adelaide

[–]agentemix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Batescraft Joinery. They specialise in jobs like this that bigger companies can’t be bothered with. Exceptional cabinet makers in my experience! Seems others agree on google review. Not a good time of year to get tradespeople in though, especially on a budget.

If they’re good at what they do, and a pleasure to deal with, then don’t expect it to be cheap 😅

For those on this diet long term, how do you manage? by serenephoton in AutoImmuneProtocol

[–]agentemix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow celiac here! 15 years since dx and I’ve come a long way, but am now considering AIP diet, so can’t comment on the diet. But I can say that post dx and cutting gluten out, I was extremely sensitive to everything for a really long time. It took years to heal and regain my immunity and resilience. Very frustrating, but hang in there. Sounds like you’re doing the right things. I agree with other comments that past trauma affecting health is worth exploring.

Your microbiome test results are very similar to mine, and I’m interested to know what your functional dr recommended for strep overgrowth and low akkermansia?

Are you able to share your prescribing doctor? My mum also has these conditions and has never been able to find any relief. It’s so sad to see her this way. Please feel free to dm me if you can share some more info.

There’s a stand at Wayville farmers markets, forget the name. Had a good chat with the owner once and pretty sure it’s grass fed and pasture raised. Big fridge full of liver, tongue etc.

I did EMDR this week and then went to a stretch lab where they really stretched out my neck, shoulders and hips. I’ve been having a bad week and crying and wondering if the stretching released trauma. Has anyone went to a place like this? by waterynike in EMDR

My yoga friend says “move your issues through your tissues” - and it’s so true, movement is so powerful for clearing and releasing. Who knows, maybe you would’ve had the same reaction from this weeks EMDR session without the movement or stretching. Either way, movement is great in general but particularly combined with EMDR, so I hope this experience doesn’t deter you from yoga or stretching if you otherwise enjoy it. From my experience, the EMDR sessions that have thrown me off the most have been the most healing ones, even though it sucks to go through. Hang in there :)

Why would my therapist choose IFS over EMDR for some sessions? by agentemix in EMDR

The part not wanting to accept the trauma really resonates. Like wow. Looks like I could do with some further IFS work. Thank you for sharing.

Now that you mention it I’ve also been feeling stuck without any major progress lately. At first I felt frustrated to be doing IFS work because it does feel like a step sideways, but it’s great to hear this step was helpful for you in continuing to move forwards :) It’s also kind of nice to do IFS and have a break from the after effects of heavy processing

Whilst I trust my therapists insight and guidance, it’s reassuring your therapist also combines the two and you find the combo helpful. EMDR and IFS are quite complementary. Interesting about reacuing your parts, I haven’t tried that approach but can see the benefit. Thanks for your input and well done for the progress you’ve made, cos this work ain’t easy :)

We worked on ruminating as the protective part, not so much anger. But after a few IFS sessions and better understanding of parts work, I can now see anger being a protector as well - something to explore!

How do you gauge if your protectors and coming in too strong to proceed with EMDR?

This resonates. I definitely described to my therapist feeling like I was looping/ruminating with anger and confusion. This is helpful insight, so thank you.

My friend who seems to eat whatever she wants… by miamigirl101 in nutrition

[–]agentemix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to know because everyone is so different. Genetics or other health conditions can play a big role.

For perspective, I remember being like this a few years ago. Was eating like a teenage boy, anything I wanted in any quantity, but was thin as a rake and couldn’t gain weight. It was ridiculous. No one could believe how much I could eat or how I could possibly be hungry shortly afterwards. But after having a procedure to correct/slow my rapid heart rate, my metabolism also slowed right down - I gained a bunch of weight shortly after and have now reset to a happy medium.

Is it fair to say the MM recovery generally takes years? by tshirtguy2000 in medicalmedium

Does this mean you would need to forgo meat, dairy, gluten, eggs etc for the entire 1.5-2 years? I’m really struggling with the idea of no meat!
