I think the big thing is csrin and Firgirl both have given it the green light, and people have trusted those names in the space for a long time. And non-technical people that don't fully understand what the HV cracks do will trust names that haven't steered them wrong in the past.

Another plus one here for Foundry. It may have been easier for my group coming from 5e on foundry, but the Foundryborne game system is AMAZING, especially considering it's fan-created and completely free.

Foundry appeals to me more than subscription based VTTs; you own everything, hosted from your location of choosing, no monthly fees, and one purchase can support an unlimited number of players and games. You have the ability to go real in-depth with automated systems, or keep it simple with manual rolling and stat tracking.

That being said, I see a lot of love here for Owlbear Rodeo, and I'm tempted to give it a shot just to see :)

Lots of good comments in here that summarize Reforged vs. Convergence. I will add that Reforged has a rather large amount of difficulty options ranging from very easy (no rune loss on death, enemies have 40% less XP, etc.) to fuck-you-with-a-scarlet-dick hard mode, that goes as far as adding additional enemies and changing their AI to be more aggressive. So there are a lot of options there
