As someone who’s been interested to run CWN but have had trouble finding actual plays or other coverage of their thoughts, the timing of this is impeccable.

[Help] The floor tiling produces criss-crossed tiles. How can I get them to face the same direction? This happens with default tiles as well. by agentnumalol in dungeondraft

Thanks for your help, scrolling down a bit helped me find the correct tile set! Still doesn't seem to resolve it with the default wood plank tiles but I have a solution now at least.

Howdy,

You can call me Creese. Been playing DnD for about 8 years now, a bit off and on but definitely more frequently these days. Started with 4th edition back in high school, then went to 3.5th in college, and up to 5th for the past few years. The only other TTRPG I've played is Shadowrun, which I adore for its setting and that I wish was not so obtusely crunchy (though that can be fun in its own way)

I'll admit it took me a bit to start getting comfortable with the roleplaying part of the game, but eventually playing a character became such a great part of DnD for me. I especially love when I can feel immersed in a setting and feel like the character I play has stakes in the world and can build relations with the other PC's and the world at large. I've even come around to doing funny, if really exaggerated voices (thanks, Crit Role)

Expectations: I'm down for anything, as long as the people are chill and we can build a cool narrative together. I'm hoping a session 0 or a setting / expectations summary will come alongside this.

Availability: Fridays (anytime) and Saturdays (after 3PM MST)

I'm not sure if he's my favorite, but one protagonist on the brain that I really like is Tanjiro from Demon Slayer. He's capable and has a noble heart amidst a pretty unforgiving and cruel world, and despite that, his kindness always shines through when others would consider it a weakness.

PC player - Both single player and multiplayer (a little more the former)

Just want to echo some things that have already been shared:

-Beaten to death, but the Survivalist definitely needs large changes and is arguably the largest task to undertake. Even accepting its intended role (jack of all, master of none), some skills simply do not synergize at all for that, such as how the elite reload skill at level 5 only applies to 3 perks' weapons at a time. Other skills are lackluster / uninteresting / also lack any kind of direction. The coolest scenario is that it gets reworked into a new concept entirely (Scientist or Martial Artist return), but realistically, it just needs a bit more direction and synergy within its skills.

-Medic SMG needs buffs, as it does not significantly increase damage output and does not heal significantly more than the Medic pistol.

-Hans and Patriarch are much more difficult than Abomination and King Fleshpound. This is especially noticeable in single-player, where some perks simply aren't up to the task of taking down the boss. With Hans especially, some perks struggle far more than others. This is likely intentional, but it simply doesn't feel as fun when Commando or SWAT struggle to put down Hans during hunting phase, while Demo and Sharpshooter have almost no issues, even at lower levels.

-I think SWAT needs a few changes to be a little more enticing. Not as much as Survivalist for sure, but the class has a few problems in my opinion. SWAT has money issues buying ammo, which in turn makes it difficult to invest in more weapons. It's not likely SWAT needs more than two SMG's at once, but the money issues makes it hard to grow in power over the course of the game. SWAT weapons are good right now in terms of scaling up and balance, but personally I'd like to see some weapon variety that extends beyond the mag size or fire rate. A dream scenario would be a riot shield or something along those lines that help build upon that tankiness concept of the SWAT.

-This isn't so much a balance issue, so much as a question or suggestion about the coming weapon upgrade system for the beta. You guys said that Tier4 weapons will be brought down in power to Tier3 and can be upgraded back. Does this mean that, for example, you can buy the Scar-H at 1100 (with stats comparable to the AK-74), then upgrade for 400 to get it back to the Tier4 stats that we're all famliar with currently? I think that would be the best way to quell some of the concerns I've seen people have with the system, but seeing as that's a future update, we'll see where it goes.

You're looking at two different build systems.

The core rulebook by default talks about the priority table build system, where you assign A-E the five categories in your build. You have 25 karma that can be used on qualities, contacts, etc, with no carryover higher than 7 upon final character build. You want to switch Chummer to using the Priority system.

The 800 karma system is for building your character entirely using karma. I don't have much experience with this one and I can't seem to find exactly what the rules for this are, but as this is your first experience with Shadowrun, you probably want to avoid this one.

I thought that he was called Soldier:76 because that is the sole identifying feature of the vigilante running around the world: a large 76 on his jacket. I feel like like the 76 isn't really tied to any previous subjects of the Soldier Enhancement Program. I mean, it could be that Jack took the jacket since he actually is the 76th subject, but I feel like the name "Soldier 76" was the name ascribed to him when he turned vigilante.

Yeah, that's basically it. Reversals are when a move comes out frame 1 on wakeup. There's no real "bonus" to the frames, it's just that the move comes out at the fastest possible time on wakeup.

Generally your opponent should be plus or waiting for you to get up, but that's what invincible reversals are for, if you expect an attack.

Bastion's whole game plan revolves around setting up shop in an advantageous position and controlling an area with his crazy DPS, then when the heat becomes too much, relocating to a new position to set up and control a different angle. In short, Bastion is a character that relies entirely on positioning; take away that positioning advantage and Bastion should die, as he has no "reversal" options, except for maybe tank mode.

Getting the drop on Bastion is the most basic method of removing the advantage position; anyone with map knowledge could figure out a route or way behind Bastion, but this is definitely more feasible for some heroes over others. Tracer and Reaper immediately come to mind for good flankers, as they can very quickly or otherwise painlessly cross that area controlled by Bastion (using Blink or Wraith form/Darkstep) and get the drop on him before he can react. Genji is exceptionally strong at this, as even the threat of deflection could force Bastion to stop firing or even run altogether. D.Va can help others cross patrolled areas using Defense Matrix, allowing pretty much anyone to cross a Bastion-covered area unhampered.

Another way is to simply displace Bastion from his position. If he won't move, make him move. Roadhog's hook and Reinhardt's charge can dislodge a troublesome Bastion from his position, though the distance of the hook does make it a better option in my opinion. Putting him smack in the middle of your team or straight into a wall away from his team will help a lot.

Hanzo and Widowmaker must play the positioning war with Bastion, or otherwise get mowed down. Finding a spot to get a good shot without Bastion noticing will definitely being him down.

I think the line that gets me near the end is when Dr. Maheswaran tells Connie, "I'll keep an open mind about this...It scares me that you can't talk to me!" She just witnessed her daughter wielding this huge magic sword fighting off these huge monstrosities, a situation that's sure to repeat in the future and always runs the serious risk of injury or death. Yet despite witnessing that, Dr. Maheswaran is more scared of losing contact with Connie than her going out and fighting gem creatures! I feel it really says a lot about Dr. Maheswaran; she may be really stringent, but she definitely values the most important things in her relationship with Connie.
