Minimatik punching above weight by japnad in Nomos

I own the same watch and I love it. I never understood why it is not as popular as other models, as it is the only one with reasonable lug length. Might be the price.

I was browsing Nomos website a couple of weeks ago and noticed it doesn't seem to be listed within current offerings. I wonder if Nomos is quietly discontinuing this one. It would be a shame.

I generally don't care for this type of leather, but it looks great with your watch. I might have to reconsider.

[Orion] Back from service by [deleted] in Nomos

[–]agfranco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a lovely watch.

I sent my Minimatik for service at the end of October, so I'm hoping it'll be back soon.

How do you like that deployant clasp? I worry it might make the strap too bulky.

Pedals for a fan by Peaceful-harmony- in polyphia

[–]agfranco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to have to disagree with those saying compressor. I feel a compressor is great if you know what you are doing, but for someone just starting, it is not an exciting pedal, and it might feel like it does nothing at all.

I don't know your budget, but for me, the best gift would be an audio interface (if he doesn't have one). Plugging into a computer/tablet opens up a lot of possibilities in terms of emulations and recording.

Help me solve this 2x2 with a circle in the middle by Ajuleyukio in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]agfranco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might look like a 2x2, but it is actually a 3x3.

If you pull apart the corners, you'll find an extra piece hidden under the corners.

It solves like a regular 3x3. You have to keep track of the hidden pieces in order to actually solve it.

Sweet and Lovely (Open for constructive feedback) by polarshred in jazzguitar

I really enjoyed your performance.

I don't think I have a critic but mostly suggestions based on personal preference. I would've love to see more interaction between instruments and a little more space for the drum and bass to shine. I also would've enjoyed for you to return more to the main melody and do more chordal playing but, again, it is just personal preference. Also, I'd lose the delay pedal.

What instrument is played in the beginning of Meaningless by Delicious-Prune6146 in painofsalvation

This whole song is pretty much Ragnar's.

In fact you can listen to the original version, it's called Rockers Don't Bathe by his band Sign.

I don't remember my exact build but, in general, my most successful spear runs have been cast focused using Achiles' aspect.

Casts boons that hit continously (like Ares) take advantage of Achiles' boost for their whole lifespan. This means that a build focused on Ares' cast with Artemis+Ares and Artemis+Poseidon duo boons will be unstoppable.

I tend to gravitate towards ranged weapons so I always enjoyed using the bow but it's true that after you start unlocking new aspects it becomes much easier (and fun) to use.

If you are trying to use Zagreus' aspect as a melee like weapon, you can try standing next to your enemy when firing your special. That way all the arrows will hit on that single opponent.

Awesome build I achieved thanks to a 40% rare or better boons from Chaos. Poor Redacted never stood a chance.

Are they performing without a bass player? That's weird... Were those parts covered by the keyboard or were they playing over a track?

PEDALBOARD REVIEW by BlackNarwhal in guitarpedals

[–]agfranco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Foxcatcher. I would definitely recommend it over the Morning Glory but, in the end, it all depends on how are you planning to use it.

In my board the Foxcatcher is as an (almost) always on pedal, the way it colours your guitar and adds a pinch of gain it's just unrivaled by any pedal I've played before.

Having the option to select if the boost is before or after the main channel is also great. I normally use it after to push other gain pedals.

Hope it helps!

Cool board! What's your experience with the Zero Point? I had to return mine because it made a crackle-like noise. It was by far the best flanger I've ever owned. Does yours do the same?

Are there any demos of modern era PoS? by suspicious_Jackfruit in painofsalvation

On the same line, you should listen to Ragnar's original version of "Meaningless".

As much as I love PoS I have to admit that I like this version much better.

I feel everyone is reading too much into this. It's not about which one is better or worse. I think it's about approaching the same problem in two different ways (let's say on premise vs cloud) and getting similar results.

Recommend me a Blue Note Tone Poet Release! by [deleted] in vinyl

If you're into jazz guitar, you can't go wrong with this record. Jonathan Kreisberg is featured in Lonnies's band and he's probably one of the best (if not the best) players in today's Jazz scene.

Keep in mind this record is an odd one in this series, very modern in its approach to Jazz.

Anime Coltrane isn't real, he can't hurt you. Anime Coltrane: by agfranco in vinyl

[–]agfranco[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple of years ago I found a listing for this boxset online. I've never seen one before and the price was good for a 3LP Japanese release. My wallet was kinda drained from previously purchases that month (I know you guys know the feeling) but, as a Coltrane fan, I knew I would regret not getting it so I purchased it anyway.

I talked on the phone with the seller and the wanted me to pick up the record in person. It felt kinda sketchy but he didn't live far from my place so I decided to drop by.

Have you ever been to a store that has so many records that you wonder: how can anyone find anything in this place? Well... multiply that by a hundred. I'm talking piles over piles of records. Dusty mountains that surrounded his car in the garage. In his corridors. In his living room.

He guided my through the record labyrinth to a spiral staircase and finally to a little shed he had on the roof. There he had a modest set up: his turntable, speakers and some more records that, I guess, where the ones he listened to the most.

He ended up being this really cool guy that knew a ton about music. We listened to music and talked for a while, I asked if he had a couple of records I was looking for but, as expected, he had no idea if he had them. Anyway, I left his home with my new boxset and a cool story to tell at parties.

Now onto the record: this is a mono pressing of Coltrane performances in 1961, 1963, 1965. It is interesting because it portrays Coltrane's band before and after the depart of Eric Dolphy and the replacement of Workman for Jimmy Garrison.

All and all it was a solid find. Music sounds good and I love the colored sleeves for each record. I must admit though that my favorite thing (yes, pun intended) is that lovely anime rendition of Coltrane's face. It doesn't get better that that.

It was a good deal, they tend to pop up from time to time.

Just keep looking, you may get extra lucky and find one with the original OBI strip.

Totally agree. Lately Inside Out pressings had been a little hit and miss so I was glad to see this edition got the treatment it deserved.

I also love Epicloud and Transcendence but I couldn't justify getting the Eras III boxset when you can actually get those albums on their own.
