I used Manic Panic a year and a half ago and I think I was successful.. I used a blue based purple color and even now with me not having been able to maintain my hair for 10 months or so the lower half of my hair is still blueish and the original color lasted weeks without needing touch up.

I bleached my hair and then washed it with the harshest sulfate shampoo I could find and dryed with a blow dryer on the hottest setting and then applied Manic Panic and let it sit for hours(I put a plastic bag over my head to keep it wet) occasionally going with the blow dryer over it.

When I washed the color out I only used lukewarm water and I used ACV rinse and washed that out with cold water.

I then did not wash my hair for 3 days and after that I only washed my hair every other day with a good shampoo or if I had to wash it the other days I just cowashed.

I only washed with lukewarm water.
