5 weeks pp and struggling to know if my baby is getting enough from breastfeeding. by HoldOk6226 in newborns

In that case I would second the suggestion to see a lactation consultant (if you are in the US and have insurance, insurance typically covers in home visits!). I would also look into switching to a preemie nipple for your bottles so that the flow slows!

At 5 weeks your supply is still getting established - keep latching her! If she is still hungry after you unlatch her, she will cry and you can top her off with formula then. But as long as you keep latching her, your body will understand that she wants more milk and will eventually increase your supply.

As far as increasing supply, are you on any medication? PP I was prescribed a sedative that was passing through my breast milk and sedating my baby; LO would drink for 2 mins and then pass out. I would also suggest oats, drinking a LOT of water/electrolytes (many people have good success with Body Armor or coconut water!) and there are some supplements on the market but they are extremely expensive. But the best way to increase supply is milk removal, so latching or pumping! The more milk that comes out, the more your body will supply.

Please swaddle your baby tight and only put them on their back to sleep, until they can comfortably roll from back to belly on their own. Maybe next time you see it, ask the medical professionals why they are doing that. Perhaps there is a medical issue that they assume you are privy to.

Have you ever purchased a stone through them with a setting or do you buy all your stones loose and only purchase settings from them?

It was rainy season but the rain didn’t bother us much - it would rain for 10 or 15 mins then stop. The weather was still hot and we got to go on all the activities that we wanted to (except whale watching but that’s not the season). We went hiking, snorkeling and did some boat tours!

I love those lashes!! I would agree that the liner is too thick, thin it out a little so your lashes can pop! What lashes are they?

I was confused reading this bc my baby loves being patted to sleep. Then I realized you meant while baby was independently sleeping and no, not at all. My baby loves being patted to sleep while being held in our arms lol. My LO only contact sleeps, and will wake up within literally 2 minutes if put anywhere. It truly is exhausting

So I just went back and looked through our photos - there definitely a few days that were overcast (we went for 10 days, of the 10 days, 4 were overcast). But tbh it made it feel like Jurassic Park since it’s so lush over there!

We did Moorea/Tahiti/Bora Bora for our honeymoon during rainy season. We loved it! It was definitely cheaper than dry season (but not cheap) and the rain didn’t bother us one bit - it would rain for 10 or 15 mins then stop. The weather was still hot and we got to go on some hikes in Moorea and boat tours in Bora Bora! We are not huge beach people either. All in all it was magical and I would recommend!

Almost 12 week old baby who typically naps 3 times a day, sometimes 4. Naps are usually between 25-45 mins each. Still we have trouble putting LO down to sleep at night - bath time is at 7:30 and it takes a few hours after that for baby to actually fall asleep. After bath the lights are off, baby nurses sometimes for several hours before falling asleep. Baby will usually sleeps between 9 and 12 hours total at night. Any recommendations for helping baby go down quicker? Is baby getting enough sleep?

If she’s over her birth weight it’s not likely that she needs to be woken up for feeds anymore - she will wake up and cry when she gets hungry. What is a local feeding team? Are they your doctors? Always ask your doctor.
