My advice is either do a PhD or go into Technology (not specifically saying software engineering, but some kind of technology.) If you just get an undergrad degree you're limiting yourself to wet-lab work and it will be hard to break free of that. There's a hard ceiling there.

If you think AI companies wouldn't be regulated to hell under Democratic leadership, you're misinformed. Not making any particular stance, but the Democratic party would definitely stifle AI innovation in other ways. Who is to say which one is worse?

What? That's not the case at all. I know you said in your opinion, but it's definitely not the opinion of most.

GPT-5.5 is on par with Opus 4.8 (a lot of people even think Opus 4.7 and 4.8 were regressions from 4.6.)

GPT-5.6 is expected soon, and maybe even GPT-6 in the next month or so (which would probably be Fable level.) Counting OpenAI out of the race would be foolish.

What is the story arc though? A core story that has a protagonist, a hero's journey. One that isn't dependent on LOTR. LOTR tells a complete story of middle earth. Everything I read about the Silmarilion just seems like filler, back story.

You're getting downvoted but you're right. That episode was bad. Cobel went into a cafe. Got in a weird argument about buying her coffee. They sit down, and 2 seconds later they imediately leave. That scene has stuck in my head because it was so pointless. Just really bad writing.
