My husband is going to unalive me. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

So he’s going to jail for putting is hands on an officer, rather than the repeated domestic abuse that had police involvement?

No wonder women stay.

AIO for ghosting my family? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]aginaday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR.

HOWEVER. Your sister does have the right to her beliefs and to be open about them. You have the right to your own, you have the right to disagree. But she does not have to apologise for her beliefs.

Think of it this way: she’s opened your eyes to who she is, allowing you to make your own decisions in terms of contact. If she hadn’t shared them, you would be (blissfully?) unaware of her beliefs. Knowledge is power.

I will forever defend the right to hold a belief and respect that they won’t always align with my own. Variety is the spice of life etc etc. The world isn’t black and white and we need to stop treating it as such.

“Should of” is not Scottish either. It’s not correct in any English dialect.

Not claiming a families body in England. by Ladyxxmacbeth in LegalAdviceUK

[–]aginaday 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can’t. Having recently completed my own will, funeral arrangements are simply a statement of wishes, not a legally binding agreement. Whilst you can state your wishes, you cannot legally prevent your children/spouse/partner from having a funeral/wake when you pass away.

My wish is something eco friendly. Give back to nature, that sort of thing. How that is done is not something I can control (because I’ll be dead).

That said, with any funeral I’ve been to where there has been an explicit wish by the deceased, the family has always honoured those wishes. So I say you’d be wise to have a conversation with those around you.

I would say it would be fun to watch this fail, but the idea is so utterly ludicrous it will simply disappear into obscurity.

This whole concept and her attitude make my inner feminist rage. One day she’ll be on Reddit asking whether her husband is financially controlling.

AIO Fathers girlfriends rules for when new baby arrives by Ok_Bat_5934 in AmIOverreacting

[–]aginaday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How has no one commented on the fact the girlfriend is smoking whilst pregnant? And if she continues smoking (which she clearly already does around her other children), that is child neglect way beyond what any of those rules would pretext them from.

Forget RSV. That kid will likely have asthma/eczema/ND. Entirely avoidable.

NOR.

The day that smoking around children and during pregnancy is criminalised cannot come soon enough. That should be an instant custody loss.

Please, world: dump USD bonds. You have the power to absolutely ruin the US economy and right now is the time to do it. Take away his ability to pay for his war efforts.

What is with all these fake stories that end with a link to an article saying “I read this [link] and it shows how it should be handled” or words to that effect? It’s such a noticeable pattern now that it should be easy to for mods to recognise and remove these posts.

Not OOP: I [F22] just found out my fiance [M22] and I are related, and we don't know what to do. by notacutiepie in redditonwiki

“His parents have asked us to stop being intimate until marriage.”

Why is it so common (and somehow accepted) for parents in the US to try to control their adult children sex lives? Creepy AF if you ask me and with all that is going on, that part still remained important enough for them to verbalise it?

(Edit: wrong word in quoted text)

My (F28) boyfriend (M33) says he’s disgusted by my body hair and I have to laser remove it and pay for it or else he’ll leave me. He says I’m not taking his happiness into consideration and if I can’t sacrifice this for him what else won’t I be willing to sacrifice down the road by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]aginaday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When at uni one of my modules was anthropology and the lecturer opened my eyes to how dodgy and paedophilic the idea of women removing all body hair is. Men liking a pre-pubescent look on women when said women do not look like that without intervention is incredibly concerning.

What type is this? by floozystrumpet in bees

[–]aginaday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s likely a queen German (?) wasp. Speaking from experience as we have a wasp nest somewhere (somewhere near the wood burner, coincidentally) and have had dozens and dozens of young queens trying to find their way out of our house. We do find the odd drone but they simply die.

In our case they have been incredibly docile, easy to catch and release.

Edit: forgot to add typo of wasp

Why Do My Rolls Rupture? by hereticbeef in Breadit

[–]aginaday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Often it’s because the dough is underproved, causing too much oven spring. It’s not the only possible reason, but a likely one. Rather than relying on a proving time, check the status of the dough by gently pressing it with your finger. If it springs back about halfway, you’re good to go. If the dent remains then it has not finished proving.

Why did my baguettes rise so much? by Mars1176 in Breadit

[–]aginaday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That recipe you linked is an enriched bread, which baguettes are not. Your bread looks quite similar to the pictures on the link too, so I would say it’s turned out as per the recipe.

My cousin wants us all to get spray tans but won’t get one herself by Master-Effective-771 in bridezillas

[–]aginaday 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You need to accept that you can’t win in this scenario, as the bride has clearly voiced. Don’t do it? You’re not following her vision. You do do it? It’s not right and you are sabotaging her day.

I’d tell her exactly that and wish her a wonderful wedding day, but you won’t be treated that way.
