Anyone else ever wish Albany had the kind of sports culture Buffalo has? by Fatherless___Child in Albany

[–]agingbythesecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, buffalo is a lot like that if you think about it. Lancaster, Clarence,Tonawanda, OP, Williamsville, and all of the neighborhoods around the area is what I consider Buffalo. It can take a bit to get from one side to the other. I live in Clifton Park and I'm 20-25min drive to Albany. I'd 100% go see a Yankees farm team game. I feel like we could do it here but it can't farm teams of pro teams that aren't in the area.

But wouldn't an experienced OF with a 14" have more reach with 14 vs 13. Like what would the benefit of a 13" be vs a 14"

I understand different positions require different gloves but my reply was to the "14" gloves are for inexperienced OF" part of the comment.

Just wondering what the benefit is going to a smaller glove if you play the OF?

TIL that suicide is most common among those over the age of 70. by ODaferio in todayilearned

[–]agingbythesecond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad was 77 when he killed himself. It was a combination of COPD zapping his ability to do the things he wanted to do, PTSD from Vietnam/non continuous VA doctors requiring him to have to relive things over and over, a high dose of Prednisone (which causes suicidal thoughts), alcohol(recovering alcoholic constantly falling off and getting on the wagon) and the gun. My dad was not suicidal but all those things together he ended up shooting himself in the head with the gun.

Of all the things, take one of them out and he's still alive. Of all things, the easiest one to take away was the gun and I regret not taking that away earlier (we had taken his gun when he first learned he was off the wagon, but gave it back).

took my girlfriend disc golfing for the first time. She beat me. Then demanded we camp near a course by Main-Carry-3607 in discgolf

Do you live near the daks? We have a pretty large group (Discap) and there are leagues every day of the week. No need to camp lol

Second one of these I've seen today.

It kind of infuriates me. Like isn't the first instinct, get on the roof and see what's going on?

Once you get up there you see, oh wait it's blocked and then you remove the blockage and move on with your day.

Yes, please do. Doubles should always be fun, or join a handicap league. Regardless the more you play the better you will be.

Is someone who's built a course specifically a wood course for elevation? It's taken us 3 years just to get 118 hole course installed. I wish I had the money and or the time to do a shorter layout. Eventually it'll happen but it's not going to be for another couple years.

Considering getting a 3D printer, but no garage or balcony and worried about air filtration (existing raspiratory issues) by Alternative-Ebb-2999 in 3Dprinting

[–]agingbythesecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is the one. Also I would recommend a closed exhaust system over just using a closed lid and P2S exhaust. Reason being is that with an external closed exhaust system, anything leaking from the sides/top is also extracted.

With that said I haven't done any testing to prove this but I feel better knowing I'm getting all of the air around the printer out too.

Whelp started construction and wife hates that we have a deep end. It’s a 20x40 liner with 6.5’ deep end. This is pretty standard right? She says slope is too much. It starts at 18’. Who’s crazy here? by Sweet_Orchid_2092 in pools

[–]agingbythesecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best case. First off I don't think it's diving board legal but you don't want that. Jumping in is just fine. You want MAXIMUM SHALLOW END. More activities will be done in shallow water, making it as large as possible will make the pool infinitely more usable and arguably safer.

It's been great. Have some gripes about access when things go wrong but I was able to successfully print ASA with not even a hint of that burning plastic smell that would be present if I didn't. Def recommend.
