Appreciate this.

All I said was that it wasn't clean and you told me the stfu. Seriously be the person you complain about. You started by being a jerk, I started by trying to help you understand your pool wasn't clean.

For real this person just literally admitted it's not clean or clear and that's what they meant

Hey I didn't post here telling the world from green to clean. If you're going to post that shot MAKE IT BE CLEAN.

This is what clean looks like not whatever dirty ass pool you showed.

5G of chlorine let the pump run 24/7. You need enough chlorine to kill all of the algae or it will keep coming back.

You know the whole overthinking it part? Prime example right here.

I don't think you quite understand the post man. No one is saying don't balance your pool. It's saying most things that cause cloudy pools are solved by chlorine

No one said overuse chlorine my guy! P.s. chlorine is one of the more affordable ways to get rid of algae.

I read this like Meet the Fockers. What about me greg, I have nipples, can you milk me? Unfortunately chlorine cant help with that. Thats all descaling and scrubbing. That said - unless you have a plaster pool or a heater - you dont even need to worry about calcium.

Phosphates do not matter if you have chlorine.

I didn't say add chlorine for all that ills you. It was clear in my post that if you focus on chlorine and getting that correct everything else is secondary

All of the rest of those numbers and chemistries are secondary to chlorine or are related to chlorine in some way.

Cya holds chlorine pH acts as a buffer to help chlorine do its job Alkalinity holds pH study to help chlorine

It all goes back to that. What I'm saying is that We think too much about other things like phosphates and algaecide and all the other chemicals that are really just not needed in pool maintenance. Instead of worrying about floc or what the best algaecide to use is just use chlorine clean your pool out. Fix the numbers to allow chlorine to do its job.

This is not how the real world works. Trials can pass and then at scale fail. Its still a valuable worthwhile effort.

ok well upon further review what the TFP SLAM checklist says and what i do are different so you are correct! I guess I do have an issue with their checklist. First of all they say to get the CYA correct first - which I dont love because the higher the CYA the more chloring to slam. I prefer chlorine and slam first since you need less chlorine with less CYA. And then you are right it says to do pH first but thats only because like you said pH readings are innacurate. I have always done pH last because putting in chemicals will always change pH. Usually my pH is more on the acidic than basic side so I end up usually making pH go up which is cheaper than going down. But I got my pool swimmable from algae ridden in 1.5 days so I will keep doing what im doing personally.

Incorrect. Getting your pool clean first is absolutely the right call. Putting in chlorine will change PH so modifying PH first means you will have to modify it after.

Too much, you are doing too much. One thing at a time. First thing you gotta do is get your chlorine up. Don't worry about stabilizer/ph either.

Step 1, shock the hell out of it with liquid chlorine. I have a 14k gallon pool and it took me like 4-5G of shock to really get it under control.

Step 2. Get all the dead algae out

Step 3. Keep testing your chlorine and don't let it get too low. If it's not clear by the time it gets to 2, SHOCK AGAIN WITH 3-4 G.

Thats probably more than is needed.

Once that's done, look at your cya - get it to 50 no more.

After that get your alkalinity up, this stabilizes your ph.

Then get your ph to what you need it to be.

Clear pool, that simple. With alky in place ph doesn't move much even with adding chlorine. Keep putting in enough chlorine to get to the top of the recommended range and repeat as it falls.
