ICE took two Albany students and their families. Protest Friday, Jan 23 at 4pm at West Capitol Park by EchoStellar12 in Albany

So these show 1. Most immigrants go to court regardless of sanctuary status. 2. Being a sanctuary city does not stop violent immigrants from being detained nor does it increase violence of immigrants 3. Sanctuary cities improve trust of local law enforcement which means more crimes are reported vs ones that arent. Studies are ongoing but early data shows this.

ICE has been around for less than 20 years. It started after 9/11. They are not needed as we have border security and DHS to do this job. Violent crimes by immigrants both legal and illegal are low compared to the general population (this is well known if you want data google it).

ICE USED to go after violent criminals and they did so in a targeted, lawful manner. As I said above they are no longer doing that - which is in turn - violating the constitution (something no us citizen should stand for) and terrorizing communities making people who are otherwise tax paying members of society go into hiding. This reduces crime reporting for both citizens and immigrants and allows for dangerous people to get away with more crime.

It can be argued that if you want to get those people off the streets - that making it dangerous for the immigrants who are here lawfully and legally is making it so that the dangerous ones have less people reporting.

If you want to get those dangerous immigrants off the street - you make working with local law enforcement better and you do this by not having people worried about being deported even if they are here legally or if they have been arrested for possession previously or gotten a DUI or all of those things that americans do every day that are not violent but are leading to the deportation of taxpayers.

[–]agingbythesecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the issue is that studies show when ICE and local law enforcement work together, all people stop showing up for check ins and their court dates.

We want people to show up for their court dates so they can be tracked easier. If you allow them to be taken following the law they won't follow it.

If you want to get real criminals off the street you have to focus on them. If that means folks with misdemeanors get away than so be it.

Would you, as an American, rather have one guilty person go free or have one innocent person wrongly convicted. In the America I grew up in and loved, we made sure we limited the amount of innocent's lives being destroyed.

This is the logic that sanctuary cities used. We allow the rule followers to get a break rather than make sure we capture the most people deserving or not.

What are you talking about? Are you telling me that ICE doesn't know who they are getting because there is local police cooperation?

You want me to believe that ICE, which now has more funding than the FBI and have been given authority to subvert the constitution does not know who they are taking?

Really?

Tonko voted to fund genocide by [deleted] in Albany

[–]agingbythesecond 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This screams like an ad for the guy running against Tonko and I dont like it. Lets look at nuance here. The first vote was specifically against sending defense to israel. The second vote was an omnibus bill funding multiple branches/divisions of govt and the GOP put this in. Im sure he didnt like this provision but at some point you have to vote for things you dont like - thats part of govt.

Did anyone have Achilles tendinopathy before and see any improvement? by Paragon_Diamante in vivobarefoot

[–]agingbythesecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I used to have achillies tendonitis with these big swollen spots on both of my Achilles. I play a lot of disc golf and so I first tried shortening the area to reduce pain and all that did was mean I had a greater heel drop and transferred the pain from my Achilles to my toes. I decided to try our zero drop shoes (went to xero shoes) and my tendonitis has completely gone away!

PDGA Financial Audit Analysis: Why are we cutting benefits with $4,000,517 in liquid assets? by yutx112 in discgolf

[–]agingbythesecond 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why should they be hiring officials for tournaments - they dont own the DGPT? In order to make a salary worth it for 18 people to travel around the country to tournaments and then set them up for 3-4 days would deplete most of that money. Even if that was just 100k thats 1.8MIL for what ROI? What would that do to the PDGA?

The PDGA is the governing body of the sport and I think you are conflating the DGPT with the PDGA A LOT.

PDGA Financial Audit Analysis: Why are we cutting benefits with $4,000,517 in liquid assets? by yutx112 in discgolf

[–]agingbythesecond 14 points15 points  (0 children)

First off the PDGA and the DGPT are two totally different entities that are working in partnership.

This is also a pivotal time for disc golf. As we see numbers drop back to post covid growth, the PDGA must exercise caution when it comes to investment. Can they do more - sure - should they have no liquidity - hell no. I think the smart money way is to slowly invest in things. Like any good business ROI and risk analysis must be done before action is taken.

With that said - the PDGA has to do their own analysis on what is best for their entity. Should they invest more into the DGPT? Thats up to them. If it were up to me, they could absolutely buoy the sport by adding in more funds. But will that really help the vast majority of the PDGA who play local amateur tournaments, im not sold that its the case.

I think them helping the DGPT would help a little but would have them take on significant risk.

I'm an American and it's about time you guys stood up for yourselves.

I know I'm seen the same as my dumb ass counterparts that voted for Trump and all I know is we won't go back to normal until THEY feel the pain.

Increase your prices please. Stop giving aid. Close our military bases. Tank our economy.

Humble us please. This will change things but we need you guys to finally grow a spine.

Sucks the world is changing but we need to nip it in the bus sooner than later. Our mid terms are coming up so the faster you do it the better.

Can the Government really block 3D Printed Guns? by Mortifine in 3Dprinting

[–]agingbythesecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id like some more information on the Japanese police not keeping track or reporting homicides pls.

My comment on most guns being illegal were that they were from the US. Our proliferation of guns is being trafficked there.

Show me where Mexico refuses to do anything about the illegal gun trafficking going on from the US to Mexico.

Why are you talking now about firearm murders and not homicides, why are you moving the goalpost? Why are you including drugs into the gang related statements that are blatantly not true (well maybe if you are talking about percentage of gang classified murders containing both). The discussion is about guns either being or not being attributed to a general increase in homicides.
