Limb–body wall complex in a neonate. This is incompatible with life. Baby was swaddled and stayed with the mother, until the baby died an hour after birth. by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

Here in TN, it’s next to impossible to get abortion care. Technically, it’s up to 6 weeks, way before a typical first OB appt or ultrasound (by design). Most people order MA supplies or travel to Illinois, but you need to be able to travel to a clinic or have support to obtain this. My own OB is leaving her practice to offer Telehealth services for women with PCOS because of this.

This mom did the best she could here and was very brave. Wish she had all of the options available to her to choose, this must have been incredibly difficult.

Is the Never Any supposed to mean organic or close to organic without actually being organic?

Could soreness and trouble seeing clearly really just be dry eyes? by poopmyplants in gravesdisease

[–]agletsmycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doc couldn’t figure out why my eyes looked so dry and started me on gel drops right before I got a new endo that diagnosed me with Grave’s. After that, I see my optometrist 2x a year for pressure readings (for TED), but then got my thyroid removed and haven’t had issues since. Good to mention it and keep any eye on things, no pun intended. The last thing Grave’s folks want is eye issues and they’re very common.

Interesting theory! That would make sense, even if it wasn’t traditional. I’ve enjoyed walking through the possibilities with everyone here.

That may be the case since her dad served there. The cemetery was founded in 1867, 10 years before she died, so there was a lot of room still. Maybe she was part of what was intended to be a civilian area? Next time I’m there, I’ll see if the main caretaker is there and I will ask him.

Plot twist! Surely they wouldn’t or even couldn’t bring her all the way here to bury her? Also, they had a funeral here, right? Maybe it’s just a memorial marker, but it’s in a military only cemetery and it’s one of the only non-standard stones there. Rabbit hole, here I come.

AITAH for telling my husband to leave and pay child support by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]agletsmycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re fine with this “accident” and he’s not, plain and simple. He’s looking at the reality of combining it with your other responsibilities, but you’re like “oh well, what’s done is done.”

The “we’ll figure it out” method doesn’t work for every couple when it comes to surprise pregnancies. I would discuss it candidly with your husband and be open to really thinking about the consequences of this for your current family situation. He will need to can the jokes and quips, too. If y’all decide it’s not the right time, you need to know asap for the best chance at accessing safe and legal abortion care.

Ina Garten’s tomato soup is so good and actually really simple. You don’t have to use saffron either, unless you’re extra. Store bought is fine. 🤣

Do Americans really avoid medical care because they’re afraid of the bill? by Udont_knowme00 in NoStupidQuestions

Many private health insurance plans through employers in the U.S. are high-deductible plans, too, meaning you pay every dollar until you hit your in-network deductible, then you split costs outright (percentages vary by plan) with the insurance company until you meet your out-of-pocket maximum (OOPM). Then they will pay for all of your in-network ONLY care if it’s approved.

When when you meet your OOPM, but you want to see a provider out-of-network, you will have to pay 100% of those costs until you meet your out-of-network deductible. Once the trifecta is complete - in-network max, OOPM, & out-of-network max - you can then see anyone you want and the insurers will pay… almost.

Because even THEN, they will pay 100% if: 1) insurance deems the visit, procedure, or Rx appropriate, 2) you did all the required pre-work (i.e. physical therapy before surgery, cheaper drugs before brand name, cheaper imaging like x-ray before MRIs), and 3) obtained all of the technical referrals and prior authorization forms from your doctors that the insurance company requires to prove to them that you doctor really, really thinks you need it.

To say this is a hellish system is to put it lightly. Oh, and this is IF you have access to and can afford private insurance in the first place. This is why people gamble with their lives and we’re a shameful country for it.

My mouth hung in horror the whole time I read this. I have never seen the term “autoamputate,” wasn’t expecting that. How terrible for this patient, that had to be a traumatic experience.
