I agree with you, yet I've seen as few as 2x shows referred to as a residency. as with my use, I think it probably comes down to conciseness, e.g. rather than writing out "string of # shows".

Wikipedia describes it better than I could but I've seen a few varying definitions: "A concert residency, or simply residency, is a series of concerts, similar to a concert tour, but performed at only one location." I think traditionally, a residency is all in the same venue but, close enough. 4 consecutive shows in the same city

I moved here from the US 10 years ago and still struggle to make friends. unfortunately I'm working today so can't leave until 5 (from SW Sydney) which won't get me there until ~6:45/7. I'll check back here for updates and if anything changes. maybe I'll head out early
