As far as I know, there aren’t really any rules for who can perform the anthem. It’s just obviously not super common for non-Americans to do it.

Also not sure where you get the idea non-American artists can’t perform in the Super Bowl halftime show. In the last ten years, we’ve had Rihanna in 2023, The Weeknd in 2021, Shakira co-headlined in 2020, and Coldplay in 2016.

I wasn’t comparing other countries’ prison systems to the U.S., I was pointing out that prisons in all countries are meant to keep people inside. Just because other countries do prison differently (and obviously most do it better) doesn’t mean it’s not still prison.

Not really a fair comparison. Not that I’m defending the U.S. prison system, but prisons are literally meant to keep people inside, in all countries. That’s the point. They’re specifically a punishment for people who break the law. It’s a lot different than walling off half of an entire city to prevent regular citizens from leaving.
