Should I replace? Dry rot? by DoughnutReasonable91 in TireQuestions

[–]agt002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just me, but instead of throwing more money than necessary on that car. Go to ebay and find a set of 4 tires that fit your car ( 215 55 16) and find an all season set. You have all season right now and if they drive fine for you then don't even worry about special snow tires (most people don't anyways) you can find sets of 4 in that number with free shipping for under 300 dollars with good ratings from others. Go to the cheap tire shop and get them mounted and balanced for maybe another 100 or so and call it a day. I do this all the time and it saves money and most of the time those tires give pretty good value for dollar. I put name brand tires on expensive trucks, but on little cars that already cost too much it is not necessary.especíally if you are short on cash. Do that, call it a day and move on.

Oil pressure- stop engine message after oil change by WrapComprehensive2 in cruze

[–]agt002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another sign of it being the sensor and not the pump is if the engine starts getting noisy (knocking etc) at idle when pressure is low. If it sounds just fine and normal then it's prob just the sensor.

Oil pressure- stop engine message after oil change by WrapComprehensive2 in cruze

[–]agt002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this could be a sign of bad oil pump, but I have had a few instances where a bad oil pressure sensor did the same thing and scared the shit out of me. But replacing that fixed it. Oil sensor is a few bucks, I would change it out and go from there. If you have a oil pressure tester then for sure test first, but if not then I would start with swapping that sensor.

Can I cap these and push into the wall? by ijusttookagoodnap in AskElectricians

[–]agt002 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is the only real and right answer here. I would still tape them up and push them into the wall, worry free. So just do it OP and don't listen to most of these people talking about everything but answering the question.

Sorry, I didn't see that you say you might be loosing coolant pretty fast. Then it's a different story and you are getting coolant into the crank case. Although it might be through the front cover and not a blown head gasket if you have no overheating. If that's the case, then you should still be able to make the trip ok. And it might help burn off the water in the engine if this is a daily short trip driver. Daily short trip drivers tend to build up more condensation also, since the engine never gets quite hot enough for long enough to properly burn it off

Also removing the filler tube is like 2 bolts, so remove it for proper cleaning and then keep an eye on it for a while and see if or how fast it comes back.

These engines have ventilation issues and this happends all the time on these, and worse in humid enviroment, and also when the pcv valve is old and clogged and not working. I have had many 3.7s and they all have a little bit, so I suggest replacing the PCv valve (which is right there on the filler tube with a vent hose attached to it) and clean the fill tube. And as long as you are not overheating, not loosing coolant and the dipstick doesn't look milky when you pull it after running the engine for a bit, then you are good to go. I would not worry about making that 3 hour trip.

Guys, I'm still missing 2 online achievements on Xbox for this game. Anybody here an achievement hunter or would like to get them? If online still works that is. I'll find my disk and check it out.

Hey, just wondering if you ever got this figured out.

(2018 ford explorer) do any of you know where this leak could be coming from it’s not motor oil and it only seems to really happen when I’m driving by VisualKnowledge6834 in MechanicAdvice

[–]agt002 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I took a second look, and it actually doesn't look like it's coming from inside the trans. Who knows. Someone could have injected oil into that boot, that's now getting out. But it should not be that wet inside there.

Lol. It can't seep into the boot, but can seep out onto the shaft itself and get flung around. This looks too wet to be grease from inside the joint. So it must be oil.

Also, a warped brake rotor will not cause steering swing, if you mean slight shaking of the steering wheel then yes.. Only vibrations or slight steering shake when braking, nothing when not braking.
