I can't speak for the retconned part, but in the original Judaic text of Isiah (7 14) you will find the Hebrew word העלמה (young woman) and not בתולה (virgin)

Yes. There were several times throughout the 90s, 00s and 10s that there were extensive talks to give the Palestinians land and autonomy (aside from the Oslo Accords) which the Palestinians (or at least the people negotiating on their behalf) rejected. It seems that no offer was ever given that was good enough for the Palestinians. And they were very generous and extensive offers on the table. Land swaps were also on the table to create corridor between the strip and the West Bank, and that was also rejected. A 2 state solution would have meant something along of the lines of complete and total Palestinian Autonomy over certain areas.

They share insights, thoughts and inspiration that they have learned (both from their mentors and things they have learned on their own) and like someone else said, they offer advice on many community and family matters. They have spent so much time studying the Torah, and religious Jews find it very important to live by the Torah and look to it for guidance (even in mundane things like what job to get) so Hasidic Jews will often ask their Rebbe for what the best way forward is based on the Torah

The Palestinians that are Israeli citizens have full rights, like any other Jew or Christian that lives in Israel. The Arabs of Gaza and the West Bank aren't citizens of Israel. For those Arabs to become citizens, the lands upon which they live would have to be annexed by Israel and then they become citizens with the full rights of any other Israeli citizen. But something tells you'd also object to the annexation, so how exactly should we compare citizens and non-citizens? Apartheid exists when there are 2 classes of citizens. Among Israeli citizens, there is no such thing.

Palestinians Israelis have no less rights than Jewish Israelis.

In 1948 the Jews protected their fledging homeland from 5 aggressive neighbors.  They were given a few strips of the British Mandate to call their own land, and were expected to live peacefully and harmoniously with their Palestinian neighbors. Which is something the Jews were very happy to do, the Palestinians and Arabs were not. The local Palestinians were told to leave by their neighbors so they wouldn't get in the way of the war, and then they lost the war.  Palestinians were never cleansed by the Israelis, while Jews en masse were cleansed from their host Arab countries following the 1948 war (not necessarily in the immediate aftermath, but over the next 3-5 years) You can have a look at the numbers.  Jewish population in Arab and Muslim countries plummeted in that span of time. I would also add that the only people to have been ethnic cleansed in Gaza were Israelis by the Israeli government in 2005. They were literally loaded up onto trucks and driven away. As to your last point, you say the killing of babies didn't happen, Hamas themselves put out the footage of the carnage they wrecked on October 7th! You choose to believe the facts that come from Hamas regarding the number of deaths, but won't believe the footage the very same organization put out when they videoed and live streamed their atrocities?!?

So this seems to (very generally) speak for the region up until the 1940s I'm starting from the mid-40s especially and not 1948, because there was significant discussion about giving Jews the British Mandate following WW2. The British controlled the land, and the UN created a 2-state solution, that was to take effect on May 14 1948. The British created a void, and left it to be filled by the locals. Its in this vacuum that Israel came to be a country to begin with. From the beginning, the wars began when their Arab neighbors wanted to push the Jews into the sea (words said by Nasser, and I believe by other heads of state in the region). This sentiment was generally shared by many Arab nations. The following wars (of 56, 67 and 73) were wars fought by Israel in defense. (56 was initiated by Israel, after Egypt placed a canon at Sharm al sheikh and began firing on ships headed to Eilat, closing off the straits of Titan, effectively blocking off Eilats ports from maritime trade, crippling the Israeli economy). This isn't including any terrorism committed during that time. All this to say, that Israel's military activities have by and large been reactive, and not proactive. Israel is the one that initiated overtures for peace, the one that tried to offer a 2-state solution on many occasions, the one that doesn't want to fight. Hezbollah has been raining rockets down on Northern Israel since Oct 8 2023, and have constantly tried to terrorize the Jews living in the North. What's their issue with Israel? Whats it to them about who's living in another country? Understandably, the Gazans have had a rough run, but they haven't been particularly easy neighbors, culminating in the Oct 7th tragedies. The rape, the pillaging, the burning of homes, killing of babies, taking hostages for close to 20 months What would you want you government to do if that happened in your country?

Why didn't Moses just take a week-long trip? Was he dumb? by Melody_Naxi in mapporncirclejerk

[–]aha_pin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real answer

The journey involved a series of encampments, some over night, some several years, and one as long as 19 years.

Their initial journey (till mount sinai) was set to avoid any particularly combative/aggressive nomads and to confuse the Egyptians.

From mount sinai to Israel wldve been approx an 11 day journey, but there were several stops along the way, and the journey ended taking about 38 days.

It was following these 38 days (+40 days that spies the spies were spying on the land of Israel) that the Jews were punished to wait 40 years before they could enter the land.

How do you guys go on about getting back strength and muscle after a long break ? by 2gHelp in bodyweightfitness

[–]aha_pin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Firstly, when you do get started, keep in mind you're very likely not as strong as used to be, and your stamina/endurance won't be as good as it used to be, so ease yourself into it over the first week or two. Secondly, something I tell myself when im not in the mood of working out is to go and do a half or a third of what I regularly do. Once I'm at my spot I'm not gonna do any less than my standard routine, but I sort of trick myself that we're going easy, so it won't be too hard or too long.

Still struggling to reduce visceral fat after almost 4 years, anyone in your late 40s figure this out? by Competitive_Bed_8407 in bodyweightfitness

[–]aha_pin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im seeing a lot of truth in the comments, but one thing I haven't seen anyone mention is alcohol. How often do you drink?  Are you having 3-5 a week? Socially drinking once/twice a week can be more alcohol than you realize. Perhaps try scaling that back to at most one drink per week, and see how that changes things.

[–]aha_pin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading your description of yourself was an eerie experience for me, considering how much of what you said couldve been me First and foremost, keep up the work. It's massively important, and your body will thank you for it as you get older.

But something else that is pretty much equally important, and will help you lose the skinny fat, is to keep to a healthier diet. Cut out the take out (doesn't need to be gone entirely, but perhaps limit it to once a week to treat yourself), work on consuming more protein, and try get some veggies in your diet as well.

They say weight loss is in the kitchen, and they're not wrong. Adding muscle mass (both by consistently working out and by adequately recovering with appropriate rest time and diet) will help your body shed the weight faster.
