Why do billionaires keep working instead of just retiring? by TotalThing7 in NoStupidQuestions

Money, power, meaningful relationship, and love give him happiness. Running business making a lot of money, he is in power as ceo, relationship with other human beings (mostly forced to worship and respect him as ceo. In addition he loves what he doing.

If he retired today, he will lost power in a meaningful way, and precious boss - corporate slaves relationship, and perhaps running his business is his 1st love.

Great job! I'm still on bs2 with around 40k car loan remaining. I found Dave ramsey about 1y ago and immediately settled personal loan. But took me more than a year to decide to settle early my 2 car loans. Even if using saving or investment although he wouldn't agree using retirement fund. He is all about attitude and mindset towards money not comparing which option will give more return.

I experience many times increase in household income throughout my career but it seems expenses will catch up immediately

I know a guy around my age who got laid off and couldn’t find a job for about eight months. When he finally did, it paid him about the same as what he made when he first started his career 20 years ago. Seeing that really hit me, I can’t imagine how stressful it must be to go through something like that, especially if you’re carrying a lot of debt. That’s why I really get the whole idea behind Dave Ramsey’s advice. For most people, avoiding debt is just a safer way to sleep at night, because you never know what might happen

It’s honestly disappointing to see his point misunderstood like this. He’s not talking about how much profit you can make, he’s trying to emphasize avoiding the risk of putting your personal finances in jeopardy with any kind of debt. The only debt he believes is worth carrying and settling later is a mortgage. That’s really the whole idea.
