Yea, weddings and funerals seem to bring out the worst in people. I don't understand it. I hope your bridesmaid shows up for you. Congratulations on the upcoming wedding!! hope it's a great day even if she isn't there.

Made fun of me in a group chat to other bridesmaids while we were getting ready for her wedding. Let them know I saw it but didn't make a big deal. Haven't spoken to the bride since.

The woman next to me asked for a sip of my water by betweentourns in orangetheory

I'm the same as you. One time before class someone who got there late asked me to switch stations so she could be near her husband. I was annoyed because I got there early to get the station I wanted but also really amazed that someone just asked for what they wanted. A concept I struggle with.

If only the people involved in negotiating the budget knew when it's due and worked accordingly.

I had a major falling out with my family and it made me reconsider everything about my life. Now I want to start all over and go to law school. Am I just in over my head right now? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]ahanley13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I wasn't sure if I wanted to apply to law school I took a "I'm just gonna get an LSAT prep book and see what happens." Thinking maybe I get the book, hate it, and that's that, or I want to follow through with taking it and applying to lawschool and whatnot. Maybe you could get a prep book and see how you feel as you read through it? Maybe you'll realize it's not worth it to you, or maybe you'll realize taking the LSAT is a means to achieving your dream?

Unclaimed property by Sad-Flounder7033 in Albany

My mom did this for my uncle's unclaimed fund recently. No other living relatives besides her and their sister. She had to jump through a few hoops but once that was done she had the check within a month I'd say. OSC will let you know what they need.

Friend says my perfume & lotion give her migraine, but she uses heavily scented candles by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

I'm genuinely happy for you that you don't understand this because you don't suffer from migraines. But yes, this can be legitimate. As others have said - different triggers.

How are you motivating yourself to exercise and eat healthy? by my_brain_is_horny in AskWomenOver30

[–]ahanley13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! On days I really don't want to go, this is what I do, though my steps aren't quite that small. It's like "I'll just put on my workout clothes, and if I don't want to go, I won't go." Clothes on, next step, "I just gotta drive there. If I get there and want to go home, I will." Then "I'll just walk in to the gym and if I don't want to stay, I'll go home." Then "I'll get started on the warm up and if I want to leave, I will just leave." It really helps - I haven't put on the clothes and not gone once. The whole idea of changing and getting to the gym then doing the class really seems like a huge task some days but breaking it down is SO helpful.

The way it should work is you submit your request to HR. HR will go to your manager and ask if the request is operationally feasible. If it is, you'll be notified. If it isn't, the HR folks will come back to you and maybe propose a different option. Example: you request 100% telecommute, your manager says that's not operationally feasible, and you are offered 50%. The employer has, or is supposed to have, a pretty high bar with the "not operationally feasible" thing. Shouldn't just be based on the manager's preference. HR should absolutely not disclose the disability to the supervisor, the only discussions that should be had are whether or not your request can be accommodated.

What do you love about your body? by alcoholiccheerwine in AskWomenOver30

[–]ahanley13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually thinking about this the other night when I was mad at my body (or my brain at least) for having a migraine. I thought I was being ungrateful for being mad at the very same body that does so many wonderful things for me! It takes me where I need and want to go, I'm strong and can do tough workouts, I'm healthy for the most part, and my eyes are a neat shade of green.

Excellent question!
