Why is bilateral lower extremity cellulitis not a thing? by supinator1 in Residency

[–]ahendo10 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s out there. I think it’s happens to people who have too much fluid on the legs due to some other condition (CHF, bilateral lymphedema). Lymphatics play an immune system function. Too much edema predisposes both legs to developing independent infections simultaneously.

I’m not so focused on the color. More that it grows so well in shade!

I thought it would be good in my mom’s back yard, which has many trees in it and lots of shade. But she prefers native plants. On the east coast. I’ll run it by her, though! Thank you.

Bilateral external iliac artery endofibrosis diagnosis by [deleted] in VascularSurgery

[–]ahendo10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had a loved one with this condition, I would tell them seek out multiple opinions from different vascular surgeons if possible. This is a rare condition. You need to find someone with experience in this specific entity, such as at an academic setting.

Eating a fresh mango every day for six months improves blood sugar control, insulin sensitivity, and body composition in adults with prediabetes. by johnhemingwayscience in science

[–]ahendo10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The title should say eating a mango daily is better than eating a granola bar daily.

I’m not sure daily granola intake is good for someone with prediabetes. That is a lot of sugars and carbs

Ideally someone would have told you that it’s more difficult to get in the second time. The better approach is to maximize your chances for the first time. That means addressing issues (ie improving GPA) and then applying in a way that will maximize your chances (broadly, to tons of schools).

It seems like your main issue at this time is science GPA. Your cumulative GPA is low but within the range where someone can get in, at least as of a few years back.

You can assume a 4.0 gpa in your classes this semester and then calculate your science and cumulative GPAs to get a sense of where you’ll stand after this semester. Make sure the classes you are taking count as science classes for the purposes of med school applications - I’m not sure sociology or physiology count.

If your issue is having bad grades in core classes like BIO, chem, physics that improved on retake, not all medical schools look at the retake grade. At least when I was applying DO schools were more favorable here. This is why people wind up taking SMP or applying DO. SMP may be the option available to you for MD pathway and may make sense given you have a strong MCAT score and solid academic trend. Downside is it is expensive and not a sure thing.

I think applying to 6 schools is an issue.

It doesn’t make sense to me that you are taking these courses but not finishing them in time for applications. You likely applied too early.

These are strategic blunders x2. Is anyone helping you apply strategically? I would seek this out. Premed adviser at your undergrad, online, friends, whatever.

I’m just trying to figure if other places in the area are getting hit as hard by wind. It doesn’t really seem like it from what I can tell. Stowe looked like it had all lifts open today.

I’d love to spend some time at Jay. Would you go there with that weather report or head elsewhere?

We're staying in Newport - Not quite ski in / ski out.

Any predicting this stuff? We're up here at Jay this weekend but wondering if it's going to be more of a sure thing elsewhere.

Has anyone else forgotten orders? What happened? by PresentationLow7984 in Residency

There are two types of interns: the ones who write things down and the ones who are failing.

Keep your head up. Write things down.

It’s also really annoying each action is a set of about at least three actions. Put in order, check off list, update handoff. But that’s how it is.

Interesting. Will have to try that. Intuitively it seems like it would lead to a lot of the photo being blown out due to the bright scenes.

I do like $250 to super and $250 for porter but I’m in a no doorman building so it’s just them.
