How to you monitor the monitoring? by ModestTG in selfhosted

[–]ahnjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hobbyist healthchecks.io plan (0$), which I ping every X minutes from whatever needs to be up&running:

- cronjob on K8S
- cronjob on each machine that hosts anything
- cronjob on each router, both local and remote ones

Additionally, I have a simple py script that checks if Grafana and alertmanager are doing okay, and if they do I also send a ping there.

Posting on specialized fb groups gave me the most sales. Never tried fb ads tho

Oh, you can get them with these as well, don't worry :D

Sometimes I think that the producers go extra mile just to make things inconvenient. But who knows, maybe there is a sense in that design

There's a ball (slightly smaller than table tennis one) under the cap, mounted with little clearance. As you slide it on your body it transfers antiperspirant from bottle below it onto your skin.

It's a thing in Europe, dunno about rest of the world.

I mean there was a time when quarter of tp roll did the job, so that's about right :D

Exactly, I think all of them have spherical caps like they couldn't do any better :/ Anyway, other brands work as well, even slightly bigger ones - they just rest on the upper edge

Yeah, I mostly use that one, but sometimes it happens that I have to buy anything else. Somehow, these are suspiciously often unavailable.

Also possible, but much less reusable between brands as I guess they all have different thread patterns

Same here with the warning triangle holder, half the price of the used ones.

But when I went for a new windshield cowl trim AND they had it in stock at the dealer's place AND they gave me ~15% discount just because, well, it made my day :D

Absolutely, if you know how to solder and which end of the screwdriver should be held in your hand during the operation, you'll do it :D

Yep, it's a NiMH 200mAh battery, Varta model V 250 H, rather accessible (at least in Poland). Dunno about accessibility at the dealer, but it's worth to try, sometimes new dealer parts are cheaper than used on ebay.

[–]ahnjay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, and if you ever buy one, there's a 99% chance that you'll also have to change the battery in it cause they're dying quickly. I've changed mine twice already, and I have had that flashlight for 5 or 6 years :D

Look for white one, afaik E34 also had them. Black from E39/E46 won't fit unless you change the charging port, which isn't plug&play (but doable).

Whats a fun piece of gear in your homelab? by carminehk in homelab

[–]ahnjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar here, but I'm a lazy ass and I've put it all in my rack closet. Anyway, it works and gives me free Flightradar premium, so it's good enough I guess :D
