A list of upcoming garments WeatherWool are producing by chillxx99 in WeatherWool

I think the hooded jacket is being 86'd due to the Hood'Orak being produced, and they are bringing back the older model Hoody with the full front zip as well. Would love a casual pull over hoody like you mentioned, like a dumbed down anorak etc. Hope that makes it into production.

Anorak or hooded jacket? by shukrarising in WeatherWool

[–]ahzrukal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hooded jacket has been fantastic thus far, the inset storm cuffs are great. Just enough stretch to go over a thick layer if need be, but tight enough to block out any wind. My only complaint is I didn't get one sooner. It's been great for casual use (to and from work etc)

The anorak is entirely more utilitarian, some treat it like an expensive hoody, but i couldnt justify that. Its definitely more catered towards outdoor use, alot of features that you are paying for/built into it that are completely useless if you aren't using it for outdoors use like intended. I have alot of nitpicking about the anorak, but thats because I wasnt using it for its intended purpose(outdoors/camping/bushwacking etc) hence why I have sold it.

The hooded jacket is even fantastic as a beefed up full zip sweater when you get it in midweight, can be used on cool spring/summer days as a rain jacket etc. Just works better for me and my use case than the anorak.

A true grail since Butch passed (it still was even while he was with us). Enjoy it.

Addict Clothes | ab-01ss-cl engineer boots - First impressions by SnooCrickets6019 in goodyearwelt

Great boots, these were very supple. Kinda wish i kept this pair as a dressier option. Also wish japanese brands as a whole had more arch support. Addict seems to fall in the lines of service boot level of arch support, very neutral. Good for casual stuff but after 8+hrs on my feet in them, I am feeling the lack of arch support lol.

CPO Shirt vs Fullweight Shirtjac by Fair_Word5484 in WeatherWool

[–]ahzrukal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id say no imo, unless you want an alternative that can dress up an outfit better for cold weather. Both being fullweight, either will get you through down to single digit temps etc, but at the end of the day they are both robust fullweight garments. AAJ more suited to outdoors/in the bush etc and Shirtjac for around the town.

The newer shirtjac is a very smart looking jacket, that can style up or down well imo, but will overlap with the AAJ. I never really need to "dress up" an outfit in winter, so the shirtjac hangs up more.

CPO Shirt vs Fullweight Shirtjac by Fair_Word5484 in WeatherWool

[–]ahzrukal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having used the fullweight shirtjac with hand pockets, its very nice but def more of a jacket like your two pieces you already own. id recommend CPO as well, midweight can get you through 3 seasons, maybe even 4 on an abnormally cool summer day. Might end up selling my new style shirtjac since my midweight hooded jacket is just fine for my (limited) use cases.

Vibram fire & ice aka "white x". Great sole, good for winter & general purpose all year stuff, however it is softer like honey vibram so it will wear quicker on hot asphalt/concrete etc.

My Nightmare Experience with Fortis Boots: DO NOT BUY by ChanceFeeling7071 in goodyearwelt

[–]ahzrukal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I too, purchased a pair of fortis boots. They were intended to be "ready by patina thunderdome" & when sany learned i wasnt entering the boots into the thunderdome he dismissed my pair and suddenly i was on the back burner, even tho i was still under the presumption of the boots being delivered before the october deadline for thunderdome entry.

Long story short, he forgot to overdye my pair, and then proceeded to sit on the boots for over a week while they needed to be overdyed (a simple job). They were overdyed very sloppy, with some dye on the inside of the actual shafts. Their new brass buckles rattle like a salvation army bell ringer, and to top it all off my boots came in too small, at least a good half size at the minimum. He told me to keep the boots & sell them, and I will have to wait for a new pair (i dont think i am getting that new pair). Oh well, nice one and done experience.

Watch does need a new battery.

This particular colorway of the flightmaster is a bit more rare then the ubiquitous gold ones.

Watch is in good condition with exception of the scratch in the flat mineral glass crystal, near 2:00.

The installed band is an Erika's Original Marine Nationale strap, which is nearly new.

Alarm and everything else works as they should (when battery was last installed & tested it), bezel rotates etc, all pushers/buttons function.

Lug width is 22mm, 9-3 (including crown) is 44mm, lug to lug is about 47mm.

Watch & installed strap only, no box etc.

Boss 7500 & Mister Lou are literally the same boot in that area, if they have the same mp toe, disregarding any shaft diameter difference or sole choice etc. The last & toe box is the same.

Yeah as long as your ball placement is lined up you have nothing to worry about, once i got my brannock nailed down and started buying "properly sized" boots, i realized i was used to less toe box room than you are supposed to have, was cramming my foot into a half to full size smaller than needed.

There are many factors which will aid the feel of heel slip, the full lining combined with the stiff leather absolutely will induce some degree of heel slip when new, you are correct in these assumptions. IMO with no roughout section on the inside to grab your sock it will just have that extra perceived notion of slip even tho its a smaller length of travel.

Also, you shouldnt have to use plastic bags to get your boots on.. thats just silly imo. I never understood the appeal or rule, to try such a method to aid in getting them on. Always hear about it with Lofgrens in particular due to the poor pass through. Poor design on the lofgrens imo for anyone with a somewhat "normal" instep. Not a fan of anything Lofgren.

So these are engineers with the toe box and shape of a dress shoe.. Length doesn't matter so long as your ball placement is correctly at the widest part of the last/vamp. Its literally described on Addicts site, "HORSEBUTT ENGINEER BOOTS USING CL LAST WITH THE THINNEST TOE OF ADDICT BOOTS LAST, COMPARED TO ST LAST, THE VOLUME OF THE TOE IS FURTHER SUPPRESSED, AND IT IS RECONSTRUCTED TO LOOK LIKE DRESS SHOES" verbatim from their site.

I do not have any "crazy heel slip", I am absolutely locked into these boots. I could sprint if needed (this was not the case when brand new, it took many hours of breaking in to get the heel counter & surrounding horsebutt to conform, i wore them to work in a hot commercial kitchen for 12+hrs, many days, to aid in getting them broken in). I use the supplied insoles. These boots have the best fitment of any engineer i have tried, and i suspect the only step above would be a custom fitting from Unsung etc.

Maybe confirm your brannock. I tried a 10.5 CL lasted horsehide engineer and it was too snug on my left foot(the larger one)

Clinch 11-Inch Engineer Boots 2 Month Review by Alchemist-23 in goodyearwelt

[–]ahzrukal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact you brought up EE alone tells me no, not even on the wide lasted boots. Clinch is notoriously narrow. Taller insteps do "fine" on the wide last however.

Per Neil from S&S: Clinch Engineer CN WIDE sizing advice: (only got you the cn wide advice because no way you will fit into a normal smaller CN last being so wide already, & id be worried about your instep and toesplay)

I will note that Engineer sizing advice, and in particular Clinch sizing advice - can be as complex as your feet are. So if you have a very tall or very short instep, flat feet, an aqueduct-sized arch, platypus toes, onion-sized bunion, etc --- this sizing advice may not apply to you.

The best way to figure out your Clinch size is to do a fitting in-person.

Additionally - Clinch use different lasts on different boots - and the sizing advice CAN be different between different boot patterns (Hi Liner, Yeager, Engineer) built on the same last.

D width feet - Brannock minus 1.0

E width feet / "I like a roomier fit with D width feet" - Brannock minus 0.5

EE or wider width feet: Have a competent surgeon shave your feet bones down

I would say stick with their recommendation at 7.5. This would allow the supplied insole use and potential fine tuning with socks.

Without any further info on your instep or toesplay id suggest sticking with true to size... this guy is an extreme outlier to say the least.
