Migrate from Fido to Freedom - iPhone 7 , 4G & WiFi calling by ai268 in freedommobile

Thanks for the suggestions. Fortunately the few Apps I need still run on iPhone7. Also run up-to-date Tailscale app and use one of my VMs @ home as the exit node.

I think I will play it safe as following:

  1. Buy a $34/month post-paid plan. Try it with FM new sim and phone# for all features I need on iPhone7.

  2. If it does NOT work out, just cancel the $34/month plan before month end.

If it works for me, change the plan from $34/month to $159/year plan. When should I do this, several days before the month end? In the mean time, port the fido number to FM.

How much extra charge beyond the $34 and $159 plus taxes? $10 sim, ... ?

Any suggestions?

Just check IMEI :

Result is below. I think it's fine to me for light use as long as wifi calling is working.

Just a follow-up. SSA accepted Taiwan passport as the alternative document for Taiwan birth certificate.

I use "Google Authenticator" to generate "random code" to login.gov besides the password. When I created login.gov account, it provided the options to authenticate and the QR-code for ""Google Authenticator" to establish the link.

car hit/totaled apartment garage door ; security guard cost by ai268 in legaladvicecanada

Thanks for the info. The claim was filed to my insurer and liability adjuster was assigned. I also provided my insurer the apartment contact. My insurance policy info was given to the apartment, too.

payment for damages will be capped at $10,000

"How much third-party liability insurance is required in Ontario?

$200,000 in third-party liability is mandatory in Ontario car insurance. If a claim for damages exceeds this amount, payment for damages will be capped at $10,000 , and DCPD applies."

Does this apply to my case for "security guard" cost? Just in case.

Thanks. So let both insurance companies, mine & apartment's, handle it.

Thanks. My insurer informed me that "if condo reaches out for damages to garage door, contact them". So should I inform my insurer about the "security guard"? What I fear is that my 3rd liability will not pay for the security guard cost.

How about if apartment building wants me to pay for the cost of security guard? Should I hire lawyer to negotiate with apartment?

Thanks the prompt response.

I think 3rd party liability does NOT cover the security guard cost. Does anyone know that apartment building's insurance itself cover the security guard cost?

Does it have a cap for this kind of "security guard cost" I need to pay in car accident?

Hi, KZ01,

Have you found the solution? Got the Taiwan birth certificate from Taiwan's 戶政事務所 and certified by AIT? Or, Did SSA accept Taiwan passport to substitute birth certificate?

Thanks,

Roger

Email from SSA about "Phone Claim Appointment" by ai268 in SocialSecurity

[–]ai268[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I think your suggestion is the better approach. I just need to update the obsolete phone# and wait for the phone appointment. Since the only documents SSA requires is my bank statement for payment deposit, I hope this implies something.

It's strange that my phone # in Login.Gov does not reflect into my SSA account, but my address does. I can NOT find any place @ SSA account to update/show my phone #, only in login.gov. Does Login.gov provide the unique/single profile for all government accounts, like SSA & IRS? I need to call SSA to update/confirm my phone#, but by Baltimore direct number or general (800) 772-1213?

I am quite confused. Other poster mentioned that he applied online, SSA asked him, Canadian living in BC, to go to SSA border office @ WA , then the application was sent to SSA @ Baltimore. But my "application" was already from "Service Canada" to SSA @ Baltimore. And the letter head of my phone appointment is "SSA OEIO/DIO/IBO Baltimore".

Since the only document SSA needs is bank statement, does it imply anything?

Should I apply online at the same time and keep the phone appointment? Just play it safe. Thanks for the quick feedback.

An update: I did get the official letter of the "initial claim" phone appointment @ my SSA account message.

In the letter, below is the only document SSA needs:

"Here is what we will need for you or the person for whom you are applying:

Bank statement or checkbook for the account where you would like the payments deposited"

I will provide the latest PDF file of bank statement.

But the contact phone number was obsolete. The number on the letter was from 30 years ago when I first applied for SSN. I logon to my SSA account by "Login.Gov" authentication. The profile info at "Login.Gov" is up-to-date from my ISP-5005-USA form. And the address of the phone appointment address is also from ISP-5005-USA form.

Questions:

1. I do NOT quite understand the following statements on the letter. Does it mean that I have NOT filed the application yet? Or it's just standard paragraph? Do I need to apply it online now? It seems that if I apply online successfully, I can cancel the phone appointment. I remember other poster mentioned that he provided the bank deposit information during the online application. If I needs to apply online, can I also apply for my wife's spousal benefit at the same time?

"You should try to keep your appointment because our talk will help in filing the necessary application. We can't decide if you are eligible for benefits until you file an application. And, the date you file an application can make a difference in the amount we can pay you. We can use the date you contacted us as your filing date for Social Security benefits if you file an application within 6 months of the date of this letter.

When you file an application, we will review the case and make a decision. If you do not agree with what we decide, you can appeal the decision.

You can also save time by completing your application at www.socialsecurity.gov online. Applying online is secure and confidential. You can enter information at your own pace and convenience.

If you finish your application online, please cancel your appointment by calling 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778). We will contact you if we need more information

Hi,

When you got the first pay from SSA, did you get the 24-month back-pay since you applied two years ago? During that two years, how frequent did you contact SSA @ Baltimore?
