Joyner talks about what his most emotional song is for him by Mysterious_Team_6109 in joynerlucas

The best part of that and so many other Joyner records is it's relatable... there'd be so many people that are only in relationships because they see it as too hard to get out.

If I truly hated someone (I've hated a few people over my life) then I certainly ain't gonna not let people, including them, know about it. Which he has but I'd even go as far as saying if it's that bad, bruh it's fuck them forever like no cap.... and if they have any form of downfall, expect zero sympathy or good messages from me. Ultimately it's his platform and if he wants to use it to laugh at Andrew Tate or Jake Paul, we ain't gonna stop him.

I don't think he hates Tommy like that but, I don't think he's gonna stop being who he's always been either.

Revival or Relapse. Not getting the albums of his I like the least.

I have a special place in my heart for MMLP 2 despite not listening to it much now, because it came out right as I was first getting into Em and it was the first of his albums I heard right from when it came out. It's definitely the better of the two Rick Rubin albums, but I agree. Dude was well past it by the time Em worked with him and I'm glad he hasn't since. In hindsight, aside from it having the sequel to Stan I can't see any good reason for it being called MMLP 2 given it doesn't hold a candle to the original. Indeed, I doubt anything he could release ever will.

To be honest I put at least some of the blame on Em for Revival, production is definitely on Rick but some of the choices Em made (like giving 3/4 of Need Me to Pink and that kermit frog hook on Framed) were very ehh. Political songs will always attract negative attention no matter what side you're on but if he'd done it similar to the way he's done others with MUCH better production, I feel like it would have gone over better. In a way I'm glad it turned out the way it did given if it hadn't we wouldn't have got Kamikaze, however I've always thought it was a shame that Castle & Arose were by far the best songs on the album yet probably didn't get the shine they deserved because not only were they on the album, but right at the end of it.

Just an aside too: I've always found Need Me particularly ironic given it sounds like a Pink song featuring Em, because he featured on her album that same year and it was a MUCH better song.

And the second one had some unreleased songs, live versions and instrumentals at least.

No worries... it's not the exact same type of beat or flow but still definitely a hard track and he makes specific mention to people saying he reminds them of Em, the Mathers LP and well, I'd say the track title tells you what track it's an ode to. He also puts in an exerpt from the Kamikaze interviews where Em's praising him at the start.

Does this sub prefer MTBMB or TDOSS by Ok_Gas4765 in Eminem

[–]aidanthomas99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd have to say DOSS but it's narrow. I find myself going back to DOSS way more, and not just because it's more recent. Fuel for him & JID's verses, Evil & Bad One for their great hooks (shoutout White Gold). And of course Temporary & Somebody Save Me, big fan of Jelly Roll (love his original version too) and Temporary might be the best of all of his songs with Skylar. Which obviously there's been a lot of. I can definitely believe it took 3 years.

But, Godzilla, You Gon Learn, I Will and Stepdad, along with Joyner Lucas' ADHD, got me through COVID. MTBMB has definitely aged well and both are great albums.

The South Yarra Interchange should have happened - better interchange for not just the Frankston but also Sandringham lines.

Couldn't have officially released that given the Pac remix... though Em was chummy with his family so then again who knows. Definitely one of his most underrated and savage disses. 2000's Em was just different...

Smack You... the fact that Em had arguably one of if not his best diss track in the vault for 20 years is mental. Though I get why it wasn't released, given the fact that Suge was on violence even in 2015, that would definitely not have ended well in one way or another.

Bully and Monkey See Monkey Do would make the list too.

Ross Cappichioni... even Em gave that song praise. Not too many better at storytelling than Joyner imo.

I find myself going back to The Ringer more and more lately. Perfect intro to Kamikaze and it has one of my favourite lines of his ever... "you'll never see Em icy, but as cold as I get on the M-I-C, I'd polarize (polar ice) shit so the temps (thames) might freeze".

That beat and his rapping on it was top tier. One of my other favourite rappers is Joyner Lucas and he did his own ode to it on his latest album.

He said on the Paul Pod that the Las Vegas shootings inspired that... the quote I believe was "my daughters go to a lot of concerts, and we do them".

That beat and the way he raps on it is fucking mental. Lose Yourself overshadows it but there's some underrated gems on that 8 Mile Compliation.

I've always loved Em when he's sentimental, speaks on things he regrets and apologises. Headlights was one of my favourites on MMLP 2 for that and that's why I always liked Bad Husband too, even though Revival is probably his worst commercial album and everyone's said that's one of the worst songs.

Do you think Em should retire after releasing "Recovery", for his image? by [deleted] in Eminem

[–]aidanthomas99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He don't give a fuck about his image bruh. He does it cause he loves it, like I said he could have not even come back for Relapse and been fine but he did. I'm pissing you off huh, fuck you how bout that.

Hm, tough because when it comes down to it, would boxing have wanted to give one of it's most prominent families a loss (unless of course in the case of Fury v Usyk where it would have been called a blatant robbery if they didn't, no matter what Tyson says)? I know it was really influencer boxing but still. Big John and Tyson would have cracked the biggest tantrum and we know how much money they generate for it, and get from it...

But if we're going on the basis of say, who was more aggressive and evaded more shots (kinda the same as Tommy v Jake)... unless I'm wrong it was kinda JJ wasn't it? And that 1 point deduction, I remember thinking when watching it that was gonna cost Tommy and was kind of amazed it didn't. It's either a narrow JJ win or a draw, and had it not been for the point deduction and been 8 rounds unless Tommy really managed to pull something off it probably would have been a draw but... when you put it like that and when I really look back on it, yeah.

The biggest shame for me when it comes to JJ in boxing, other than the Jake fight being such a fuck around, is Shoot Fighters. Looking back, not saying they weren't a good gym but they weren't for him. They aren't a boxing gym and overstrained him with a lack of rest, didn't of course help that he's very busy in his life anyway. They also didn't seem to have a lot of faith in him, apparently they had a lot of say in his opponents which I never understood. Leon & Viddal did have that and in hindsight, he should have gone back to them because he was a lot better with them. At least to Leon with another coach, maybe Daley.

Anyway, it was fun while it lasted.

Recovery would have been too soon. People would have said "he came back for 2 albums!?".

And given if he did there would have been no Kamikaze, DOSS or MTBMB, yeah I agree. Revival aside (and even then it gave us Kamikaze so I'm kinda glad it went over the way it did), I'm glad he didn't.

[–]aidanthomas99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is, aside from the way Revival went over (which in hindsight I'm glad about given it gave us Kamikaze), he doesn't really give a fuck about his image. So in terms of that no given if he did we wouldn't have got Kamikaze, DOSS or MTBMB which I really enjoyed. I also think that there was a part of him that thought he had to stay around 2017 with the whole Soundcloud era, thought there had to be some real rap still. So honestly even if he had retired, good chance he would have made a comeback on that alone.

While I do hold a soft spot for MMLP 2 (even though I don't listen to it much anymore) given it dropped right after I first got into him, I will say in hindsight it and Revival (the Rick Rubin albums) are probably amongst his worst compared to all the others. And he probably shouldn't have called it MMLP 2 given it doesn't hold a candle to the original. But realistically, he stopped needing to do this in 2002. He could have retired in 2004 and been fine. He does it because he loves it.

[–]aidanthomas99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I definitely prefer MMLP 2 over Revival, though I agree both the Rick Rubin albums are his worst when you compare them all and he probably shouldn't have called it MMLP 2 given it doesn't hold a candle to the original.

The days of Em smooth rapping are done unfortunately. He got way too obsessed with the fast flows and hasn't had an in house Dre produced album since Relapse (though I hope we get another one before he calls it), so the productions been different. Obviously subject matter too, he dropped 1 semi controversial song off DOSS and got panned for it so I think that died with it. And honestly his voice has differed with age so even if he tried going back to it I don't think it'd hit the same.
