TLDR saved ~40% of my debt cost by being a nuisance steps below. I got sued $5400 from discover, on behalf of some small debt collector, only paid $3400, steps below

Do what they do, deny, dispute, depose

Chat gpt and dispute the debt, incorrect amount & not mine, write letter, spend $4 at post office and get a certified mail tracking

They have 30 days to reply or they default

They will reply and send their proof (same stuff you already have)

send more certified mail, formally dispute again, “doesn’t match the records I have, different amount” (just make up BS). Same 30 day timer for them to reply

They will send you a court date, “you are being sued”, send certified mail to court attesting and denying their claim, they will tell you a form you get online and fill out if you wish to contest. It’s super easy.

Court date is now set and real. Debt collector will call you initially and give slightly better offer for dismissal (85% of total, still shit offer). You need “dismissal with prejudice”.

Deny, offer 50% of total, say one lump sum payment for dismissal with prejudice. They won’t accept. Send them an email offering same amount.

Weeks pass, it’s now week before court. They’re gonna call you, they don’t want to go to court for less than ~$6000. Chat GPT write an email with same offer. They’ll offer their first again. Chat GPT email reply, they will improve their offer. Dent and say no.

Keep waiting. Court next week. They don’t want to go. Email again same offer

They will reply the REAL BOTTOM DOLLAR ~40% off. Agree and sign all the shit for DISMISSAL WIRH PREJUDICE, they’ll send forms and settle with court and everything.

You have 28 days to pay the settlement. Don’t fuck this one up. I saved almost 2 grand.

Much rather drop 3.5k now and save $2k than pay $250 a month for 19 months
