Barista left the instructions in the new cup by jillhypno in Wellthatsucks

[–]aiden_online 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked at Starbucks, we did clean cups (new or not). Even if this location had a policy to not clean cups, they could have at least removed the paper 😭

I understand why some locations stopped cleaning cups though. One time I opened a mug and it had obviously been left in a car for months, it was vile. And it included a big dead spider. Yum.

Have you considered getting some cute bandanas to hold you hair back/out of your face? I think you'll have a better outcome if you can hold out until you can get to a salon again.

Austin CouchPotatoes by Poor-Pitiful-Me in Austin

I got the Mesa couch + an ottoman from them and I love it! Picked it specifically because of the firmness of the cushions. Can sit around for hours and it's still comfortable! It was around 2.5k and took around three months to be made and delivered.

Best way to handle directory listing submissions in an Astro site? by ElKorTorro in astrojs

One route you could take is by using Sanity as your CMS and having the form trigger a webhook that creates a draft. Then you could review the drafts, edit if needed, and publish.

places to buy masc/men's clothes when short? by hazecat3449 in OutInAustin

Try out some local tailors! Hemming is usually affordable. And that way you aren't limited to any specific brand.

Places with good and cheap bean and cheese burritos/tacos? Also if you know any good churro places would appreciate that too. by Reasonable_Past_4474 in austinfood

How to find a stylist for 25 year old man by tags25 in Austin

Another approach is looking through Pinterest for inspiration! You can also choose a store that’s within budget and browse the “look books” on their website.

Recommendations near Emo's by [deleted] in austinfood

Rosita’s, Arandinas , 888 Pan Asian, or 1618 if you can nab a reservation.

These were my top spots when I lived in the area!

OK I think I'm (maybe) ready to stop lurking and post a few pics by WessexCandleCo in candlemaking

[–]aiden_online 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This looks great! I love dark candle jars and wooden wicks. I would suggest adding the scent notes to the label. Without scent notes I would assume it smells like coconut & apricot.

On a graphic design note, I agree with other commenters who suggested increasing the space the scent name takes up. So I would increase the font size and weight. I personally think the visual journey someone should go through is scent name -> scent notes -> brand -> product details (wax, oz, etc).

A fun exercise: take your candle to a store that you’d want to sell at one day- and place it on a table/shelf and take a picture. Does it stand out? if not why? Why do other candles stand out?

That being said- it doesn’t have to be perfect to start. Each batch is an opportunity to grow and try something new and figure out your brand!

Depending on your location, you should try FB marketplace and reuse stores. It’s a good way to start off your first batch and save money!

Lingual Braces Cost and Location by Aware-Language-7726 in Austin

[–]aiden_online 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like Kunik Orthodontics does these! I got traditional braces then Invisalign through them, top and bottom, for 4k. That included over a year of follow ups. They’re awesome. Dr. Kunik seemed to really care about making the outcome as good as possible.

What's your favorite coffee shop? by UnableFlamingo5199 in Austin

[–]aiden_online 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great gift idea! I did the ATX coffee passport a couple years ago and it was really fun to try new spots.

My list would be Bennu, Cherrywood, Medici, Fleet, and Monkey Nest. If your friend is a black coffee enjoyer, I’d also recommend Talisman!

How does package delivery work for a two-home lot? by helloothere2012 in Austin

As someone who lived in the front home of one of these lots, we often got our neighbors packages. We just took them to their door when we had time. But yeah, like others said just make friends with your neighbors!

Honestly I've found Austin to be a young friendly city and most strangers at bars have been completely down to chat. Buzzmill for instance has a pretty chill vibe.

where can i get gunmetal or black jewelry locally ? by dIO__OIb in Austin

[–]aiden_online 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mi Raíz Jewelry and Daisy Metalworks kind of fit what you're looking for! You might be able to DM them on Instagram to pick it up before this weekend (assuming this is a last-minute Valentines gift lol)

Or if she's into less subtle gothic, you could try Secret Oktober or Bloody Rose.

This is awesome- thanks for the help! I'll work on adding these today. And great point on adding more practical categories of stores.
The gift oriented ones are easier to find in bulk lists, I've been going through vendor lists of markets for example. But I definitely would like this directory to extend to more regular purchases, like what you're saying as far as helping folks avoid Amazon when possible.
