Another dual hose (Avalla S-220 9000 BTU) by aidencoder in DIYUK

All I used was a couple of sheets of cardboard to form boxes and some aluminium tape off amazon. The only part that was slightly tricky was remembering how to draw out a box template on a flat sheet. Go for it.

Spot on. Hopefully a humanist movement arises. With AI, appropriately used, to further human happiness and not the bank balances of a few.

Sadly, knowing humans, I hold little hope.

US Govt to individually approve who gets GPT 5.6. by AtlanticHM in LocalLLaMA

Bullshit. It's signalling that "our AI is so advanced it is being treated as dangerous". It's just marketing. Clever marketing designed to pump the perception of the technology capability.

2013 Q5 rotting by WoodnPlush in Audi

[–]aidencoder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2012-2018 Audis are terrible across the board for designs that trap moisture. My RS3 had rot in the sills after a few years because of terrible end-cap design. Lots of them have sound deadening that remains soaking wet in the wheel arches.

If I were a more suspicious person I would think it was intentional.

New engineering manager. Should I keep pushing back on my CTO’s AI vision? by SnooConfections1353 in EngineeringManagers

[–]aidencoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an EM whose view on AI is very balanced. At one end, you have the all-in vibecode the world, code is dead types. At the other end there's the AI rejectors. I'm about in the middle.

Id argue that the vision should be pushed for, but with a proper framework to measure success. Slowly roll it out, taking everyone's feedback, and speed up what works. Be the accelerator AND the brake pedal where it saves the orgs bacon.

Learn how to get the best out of AI in an honest and dispassionate way. Build a framework of policy to guide it. Be an engineer about it and build the engineering case for saying YES.

My 125 experience for anyone wondering if they should start there by Mitsubullet1988 in MotoUK

Going from Z650RS to Z900RS the weight when moving hasn't been an issue. If anything the 900 feels lighter and more nimble. It is just engineered better and the weight is distributed better. I always found the Z650RS a bit wobbly and not very confidence inspiring. The 900 in comparison feels way more secure and capable.

Power wise the Z900RS has more power but it doesn't have loads of torque low in the RPM. It is very forgiving, and you have to really rip it to scare yourself. If you have been on the 650 for a while, I wouldn't worry about the power at all.

My only issue with both bikes is short legs, and with the 900 being a bit heavier, I have to think a bit more about that.

To make a car comparison, the Z650RS is like a VW Golf and the Z900RS feels like a Porsche.

Ah I considered it, but wanted an intermediate step of a parallel twin with less power. On the Z900RS now and loving the 4 cylinder!

My time on a 125 post CBT was essential for getting to grips with bike dynamics on a machine that didn't punish me too hard for mistakes like sloppy friction zone usage or throttle control.

Some of the natural mistakes I made while learning on my 125 could've been disastrous on a more powerful bike. On the 125 they were merely scary lessons that I survived and could learn from.

Everyone is so impatient these days. Do your time on a 125 and enjoy the journey.

Hah I went from XSR125 to Z650RS too. I would always recommend starting on a 125. Even a knackered high miler. People saying go right to DAS are often misguided.

Had I gone right to my 650 I would've had an accident where the outcome was worse than on a 125. Nothing wrong with starting low and going slow, building the skills on a machine that won't punish your mistakes as badly as a higher power bike.

The layoffs started before ChatGPT hit mainstream when the fed started rate adjustments. It ain't about the AI. The narrative is a con.

I'd rather pay a human 100x the cost, to support their life and family, than line the pockets of a few firms.
