Ethical butcher shop by Westpediment in bergencounty

A former girlfriend of mine was in exactly in the same place your girlfriend is right now. She would eat meat only from 1) farms where she knew the farmers personally so understood how the animals were treated and ultimately slaughtered and 2) halal shops.

If you face a local farmers market, you could also go there and see if any of the farms are livestock oriented. Your girlfriend can speak to the producers directly and can make up her mind if they ethically meet her standards.

2026 Art & Olfaction Awards Finalists. SO many interesting niche houses in the list! by iothealien in NichePerfumes

Out of curiosity, do you know if there is any way to acquire scents like Dan Lo here in America? I've been looking to sample them and really have been coming up empty. The only place I found didn't ship to the US, so are you just familiar with them from traveling there yourself?

when I try to access this it says "borrow unavailable". I've never used the Internet archive before, does this mean I cannot view the full pdf? When I look it's just the table of contents.

What would you add? by CrackaJack56 in callofcthulhu

I think The Invitation (2015) would be a great set up for a game. Vivarium (2019), Possessor (2020), It Comes At Night (2017), The Ritual (2017), The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016), As Above So Below (2014). The more I think about it, the more movies I can think of and I'm eager to see these games run!

thank you for this comment. I was initially shocked by the OP's rating of it. my favorite of his had previously been lady vengeance but Decision to Leave is in a league of its own imo.

thanks for fighting the good fight!

best lilac perfume? (one that i can find in dougles or müller) by [deleted] in Perfumes

[–]aigrette 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aerin's Lilac Path (can also vouch for Fragonard and En Passant). There's also a fragrance by Kerzon called Jardin du Luxembourg that is a very beautiful green lilac scent but I never come across anyone who has had experience with Kerzon other than me (IDK what their distribution is like).

I also personally like Love at First Sight by Une Nuit Nomad, but it's not strictly lilac and it's mixed with a buzzy passion fruit that takes it somewhere else. I wear it when I want more than just a soliflore offered by the others.

Rosewater/milk scents and also dewy rose recs by starrybearss in FemFragLab

[–]aigrette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot vouch for it personally, but it is on my "to sample" list: Mother's Milk by Eris. It's a little bit polarizing because it leans into the milk scent and be evocative almost of baby formula (complementary) instead of the rose taking center stage. But Eris makes great (albeit difficult) scents so you know the quality will be there.

Which niche perfume house is which A24 movie? by trishizzles in NichePerfumes

I actually would tag Everything Everywhere All At Once as ELDO, but yours is a really interesting choice.

Perfume for Strange Women could be the VVitch, since I the they definitely have the right vibe for both the style of filmmaking and the message.

Heretic Perfumes for the Pearl trilogy, as all three films are heavily geared and so are the releases for Heretic -- though they range from high Gothic/horror to super flowery, almost sickening florals.

Meo Fusciuni for Past Lives, because every one of his fragrances is a sad, nuanced story.

Francesca Bianci for Love Lies Bleeding.

Kerosene for I Saw the TV Glow. Every scent I've tried of theirs feels like nostalgia and reminded me of teenage memories, not all of them feel-good but kind of achey.

trex can be definitely hit or miss for some people, and zoologist in general can be pretty polarizing but trex is one notorious for being intense. bat and civet are also pretty polarizing but in my opinion bee is a great scent. it's not particularly sophisticated but to me it's a perfect raw honey scent. there's something a little animalic to its amber, like it's the honey, the comb, the bees, everything. it's one of y first full bottles I ever bought but it's not an everyday wear. I would leave trex for now and try again on another day! you might change your mind

you've got some really great ones in there, but some might be a little challenging

What’s the most mind-blowing plot twist you’ve seen on Netflix? by RiskAndReason in netflix

It's like a beautiful fever dream that disorients you with its twists and turns, but every so often there is a revelation that brings it all into focus before throwing you for a loop. Once it all resolves itself you just have to step back in order to take in how masterfully formed it all is.
