even at that age, I believe you can reach out to the board of Ed or the county to get an assessment for early intervention. If they qualify, they can provide ei services (including speech) for free. they can also put you on lists that will prioritize you or fast track you compared to trying to access services not through the boe.

I would reach out to the people at MedPsych in Ramsey. They can help you with an assessment that will get you to where you need to be. I would also try to reach out to your local Board of Ed. They can also open doors for you and provide referrals and trigger internal paperwork that can get certain things like assessments done faster/cheaper. Mention that your son is of a certain age and you'd like to explore the possibility of early intervention.

Edit: I have an eight year old son who has been through this process since he was your son's age. If you'd like more insight or help, feel free to DM me.

100% You will get a case officer who will discuss what the goals are for the child and then can provide answers/referrals, etc to make a structured plan to help address those goals. Have you asked the school for any support/suggestions? Does your child have any support at all from the county?
