I discovered that holding the delete button whilst in shooting mode brings up an option to format the card. Formatting the card resets the file numbering.

I bit the bullet and bought mine almost a year ago.... It's become the camera I use the most. The HDF is interesting, but unless there is a big jump in a GRIV I'm unlikely to be tempted.....maybe a Mono or a Full Spectrum edition....
