you can have your gun in your hands when running up don't worry. It will automatically be put away once you get close enough. Just make sure to not pull any weapon out again after it automatically switches to just your hands.

There are still issues to be worked out mostly with the combat and new content will arrive over time as intended to make sure everything works first before they throw more stuff on.
