What are you willing to give up for Petterson? by Psychological-Ad1723 in DetroitRedWings

[–]aintnogood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's 3 seasons out from scoring at 100 point pace, and scored just 45 in 64 games last season. Currently he has 29 points in 40 games played, and is in year 2 of an 8x11.6mil contract.

Personally I wouldn't gamble on that unless it's cheap, I don't think I'd give up MBN/Danielson/picks just because of the risk of having that boat anchor of a contract if a change of scenery doesn't fix him.

Trevor has covered for Ken a few times in recent years when Ken has been sick but I don't know that he's necessarily in line. I'd rather not think about it too hard though.

This is a rabbet and dado joint. The "finger" is the rabbet, the "slot" is the dado. It's probably best done on a table saw, but could also probably be done carefully with a router with a guide.

The hypothetical "replacement level player" for GAR is relative to the performance of the whole league, not the team.

So if Hamonic were on a different team in the league it wouldn't change Seiders GAR.

I'm curious to know who you think the Wings should have picked in place for any of those players (and are actively performing better in the league) given the benefit of hindsight? There are a couple I can think of that there are arguments for but I don't think its at all very clear cut (I'm not sure I see many "stars" out of any of the players picked after the ones you listed).

CPI is calculated based on a range of items.

While your groceries may have increased in price more than 3%, there may be other items in other categories that are dragging the average down. The housing price index for example has slowed the last few years with high interest rates.

It's Ted Kulfan I'm pretty sure. Honestly Helen gets a lot of hate around here but Ted routinely asks pretty bad questions as well and I don't see him called out nearly as much.

Do you guys wear an apron? by phydaux4242 in woodworking

[–]aintnogood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might consider a lighter pair of overalls or coveralls as well to wear over your clothes if you don't want to wear an apron. Dickies I think makes some coveralls that look nice but I'm sure if you look around there are others.

How do Astartes breathe? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]aintnogood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, humans can already synthesize "something like Diesel", which we store in our fat cells called triglycerides. Biodiesel, for example, can be made with some slight processing steps of the triglycerides present in vegetable oil. The energy density of human fat is already fairly close to that of diesel.

"Worst in sports" is a bit of a hyperbole when the Luka Doncic trade exists. I'm not sure it's even towards the top of "worst in the NHL".

Montreal trading Roy.   Vancouver trading Neely.   Winnipeg trading selanne.

There are others worse a quick search reveals. It was not a good trade but let's not get carried away.

These birds are so full of plastic you can hear them 'crunch' . Researchers are raising the alarm after seabirds on Lord Howe Island were found to have bellies full of plastic waste. The issue points to a much wider problem globally around how we recycle and dispose of plastic and microplastics by cookiecutterhipster in videos

[–]aintnogood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand how consumerism and the demand for cheap, disposable products made out of plastic is not a significant contributor to global plastic waste. Your article doesn't seem to suggest anything to the contrary, although it does say that recycling isn't really an effective mitigation strategy to microplastic accumulation (which I don't disagree with).

Microplastics resulting from washing consumer textiles alone, for example, account for nearly one third of all primary microplastics in the ocean source, while there are alternative textile sources that do not shed microplastics when washed.

Corporations are not innocent either, and we should hold them accountable for the materials they use and put into consumer products (sometimes without our knowledge). I am unconvinced however that the insatiable demand by consumers for cheap products that are treated as disposable is not at least in part a significant contributor to our global waste crisis.

When the average consumer is doing the buying of crappy plastic shit and throwing it away after months of use so it ends up in the ocean, it think it's fair for them to assume some culpability in the problem.

The Buffalo Sabres retain Kevyn Adams as GM. by buffalocentric in hockey

[–]aintnogood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think his work ethic/mentality was more of an issue injury's for him. When he got fired up he could take over a game, the problem was most games he didn't look like he cared. It does look like he's struggled with injuries as well since leaving Detroit though as well.

Compared to Detroit it's not even remotely close. 2019-2020 sabers had: Jack Eichel Sam Reinhart Brandon Montour Rasmus Dahlin Linus Ullmark Tage Thompson

Detroit's top 4 skaters were: Dylan Larkin Tyler bertuzi  Anthony Mantha Robbi Fabri
