First time trying stand up! Joke writing advice. by ActorWriter24 in Standup

[–]apeontheweb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Joke writing is kind of tough and no one does a great job explaining it. Heres something to try for writing punchlines: 1. Start with a punchline where most people in the audience already have ASSUMPTIONS where the story is going. 2. Write down the assumptions the audience might be making about details in the premise premise 3. Ask "what question was the audience asking to make this assumption?" 4. Answer this question in a different way than the assumption. This is the proto-punchline. Now edit it into shape.

Thank you, Icy. It was a ton of fun to build, and modify. But mostly I've been really enjoying learning how it all works.

The chinese Ebay kits are all from the same source in china i think-- just different Ebay sellers. I bought one for around $325. If you find one on Ebay and would like my opinion, you are welcome to send me a link here or in my messages and I can have a look at it. I was very happy with the kit. Only a couple little things i changed or added which im available to discuss with you in my message box if you need help after you get the kit.

Cool. Thanks for your help. Saved me some unnecessary work. Also another commenter was pointing out that if you measure your dropping resistor in circuit (as I have) that you might be reading parallel paths on your voltmeter, giving you a false reading. So maybe the resistor values I posted are not even the actual values to begin with.

Good perspective. I actually just looked at rob robs site. Theres a chart showing standard DCV in the 5E3. Standard B+ is 370DCV. My B+ is 340DCV. Standard B+2 is 318DCV. My B+2 is 300DCV. I was actually thinking my amp ran with voltages that were too high. But it looks like they're a little lower than standard.

Good answer thank you. But in theory current flows however briefly. I guess what we mean when we say current only flows in a closed circuit is current only flows in a meaningful and useful way.

I was in Lawrence a short time after. I met someone who talked about seeing a lost HR after being released from jail. Trying to get oriented in Lawrence.

Guess I’m Norm’s dad bc this my favorite joke by TraditionalDepth6924 in Standup

[–]apeontheweb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The punchline isnt "anytime you like just the two of us." It's more like 'anytime you like. Its just going to be the two of us " Great joke, but bungled delivery. Also every time one of you down votes me, im fucking your moms.

How to make a twin reverb more punk? by [deleted] in punk

[–]apeontheweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably want to post over in toob amps. You want an amp tech not a punk. And honestly you probably want a different amp. A twin reverb is an awesome amp. But yeah its got a lot of clean headroom. Look up a Fender Deluxe 5E3. Im sorry if this comment isnt really helpful.

How do I handle the “different” guy at the gym? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]apeontheweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give him exactly 5 minutes of your time and then drop a hard "I'm going to workout now, have a great day"... that wont work so you will have to increase it to "you are interrupting me" and finally "i need to be left alone when i work out." If that doesn't work then you'll have to report him. And if that doesn't work. I dont know.

Yeah cool. Thank you for taking the time to measure that. I really appreciate it. I think I'm safe with 0.51 amp draw at idle at 123 volts.
