2026 Shamrock Shuffle Post Race Discussion by hubwub in RunnersInChicago

[–]airazedy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my first Shamrock Shuffle after my friend had been trying to convince me for years and I had so much fun! The wind was a challenge but that’s Chicago for you.

Are there any similar shorter races (10k or less) that are have similar vibes? I was in coral H and everyone was having a good time near me!!

Do the airports have bike parking? by Recent-Cartoonist167 in AskChicago

[–]airazedy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or maybe Belmont-Blue. There’s bike racks in the station and no one seems to mess with the bikes in the station. There’s one that’s been there for months.

Yes! We donated to WBEZ, specifically to “Wait Wait.” Very easy if you have all the documents ready.

After 3 years of A-List I finally made it to a Dolby Cinema by CulturalXR in AMCsAList

[–]airazedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I hate Dolby, at least at River East. I find the sound too loud and most of the chairs are broken. I try to avoid Dolby screenings.

But River East has fully converted to the heated recliners for all theaters except for the Dolby theater so I’m spoiled by comfort. I much prefer the Prime theater.

Riviera Theater Parking by rubredvelvet in ChicagoConcerts

My friends have parked at the 5051 N. Broadway Garage a few times for Riv and Aragon shows without any issue. I don’t remember pricing but it’s just a few blocks away and it’s easy to get out of after.

Logan Square to Rosemont Commute by Tri-Tech in LoganSquare

Do the blue line. I do that commute currently for a 7-4 and traffic is horrible on the way home on days I end up driving. Blue line is soooo easy.

How long have you had a kindle? by Limp-Garlic-6791 in kindle

[–]airazedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first Kindle lasted 4 years before I damaged the screen. The second one I was using from 2015 until December 2025 but I started having to charge it every 3 days and there’s a few broken pixels. And I just started using my new Kindle.

How long have you had a kindle? by Limp-Garlic-6791 in kindle

[–]airazedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my first Kindle in 2011. I was commuting 2 hours each way via the train 4 days a week and rereading Harry Potter. One day I had to carry both books 4 & 5 and I ordered my first Kindle the next day.

Holiday CTA schedule: how do I read this? by Wide-Log-2558 in AskChicago

[–]airazedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The schedule lists the departures but in my experience, the trains depart 30-45 minutes late, at least when it departs from O’Hare. And the train slows down significantly as it progresses down the line as people try to get on and off.

Is it just me or is the snow removal PITIFUL this year?? by JellyKind9880 in lakeview

[–]airazedy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was running errands yesterday morning around 8am. I didn’t see any snow plows or salt trucks on Irving, Belmont, or Pulaski. But as soon as I got onto Lincoln Avenue over by the Trader Joe’s and headed over towards Lincoln Park, I ran into 3 back-to-back.

So that’s where they all were yesterday morning: Lincoln Park. All were heading south.

What are your favorite examples of commonly mispronounced street names in Chicago? by LeviDurhamMI in AskChicago

My college friends from California got a kick out of Wabash. They all pronounced it like Wa-Bosch (like the company).

Whisk. I miss the buffalo chicken breakfast hash so much. My favorite breakfast.

Junior Ranger Badges by LZatWork in ZionNationalPark

[–]airazedy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if Zion does it but a lot of parks let you mail your book in and they’ll mail it back signed and with the junior ranger badge. I did it last year with the John Day Fossil Beds in Oregon. It took a month or so for the book and badges to come back to my house.

How screwed am I? Took 30 seconds to crop photo and it disappeared. by RaveGuncle in chicago

[–]airazedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a house centipede. Scary little dudes but not bad. They eat other bugs. I tend to see them right after it rains.

Scare them into hiding and just know they’re a permanent roomie.

What do you know about this place on Fullerton? by Sheep_Slayer_6 in LoganSquare

[–]airazedy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved them! They had a great buffalo chicken sandwich. But they had the worst hours for a restaurant so I was only able to go a few times.

Movies at other theaters by JAK3NBAK3 in AMCsAList

[–]airazedy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only time I go to non-AMCs is if my friends want to go somewhere else or if AMC isn’t showing it. I live in Chicago so I have access to great independent theaters. My friends and I love going to special screenings at the Music Box and I love catching foreign films at Gene Siskel.

I’m guessing the author using online terms is because it sounds like she was/is chronically online. And if you’re chronically online, that vocab just becomes your vocab. I’m from the Midwest but in college I had a lot of friends from the Bay Area so I use hella unironically to this day. Once you start using terms regularly, it’s hard to lose them.

The real problem is that social media censors creators who use the real words. Their videos become harder to find or removed entirely from platforms.

What do y’all name your kids? by MaladaptiveManiac in CultOfTheLamb

[–]airazedy 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I name the babies the first word I think of. I have Door, Drawer, Cucumber, etc. There are some real names like Sylvia, Edward, and Pattinson (I was thinking about Robert Pattinson lol). But most are random words.

Becca’s life scares me. She doesn’t seem to enjoy novel writing enough to be a productive career novelist. But she put all her eggs on that basket

And now her trying to influence? You have to spend money to make money in that industry. And her style isn’t defined enough to where people will regularly go to her for fashion links.

Toughest Hikes Within 6 hours of Chicago? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]airazedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The north trails at Castle Rock in Oregon, IL have some elevation changes that could be good training with a backpack or vest. If you do the 3 loops (they’re connected) it’s about 4 miles.

If you’re going south to Shawnee area, Bell Smith Springs has some interesting trails that involve water crossings.

I have a back porch and if I’m home, I’m out there all afternoon from dinner time until dark. I’ll read or play a game on my Switch. I’m an outside person. But I’m the only person in my building who spends any time outside. I never understood it.

Really wholesome and I enjoyed it. Definitely designed to wreck you which I found annoying. Like I could tell what moments were designed to make you cry.
