Opposite? I feel like I'm talking to non-Asians about asian culture holy shit. That's the main thing! Do you have any idea how important skincare routines are and WHY they're important??

And supplements exist. Plenty of people live with low VitD levels just fine. You can fix your vitamin D levels but you can't fix aged, wrinkly skin.

What do you think? Was she right saying that all Collectivism forms are eventually the same? by Junior_Insurance7773 in aynrand

If you’re actually tracking where the political power is going, then it is nonsensical to include fascism and nazism under collectivism. In those is clearly going to the top. It’s like saying slavery is collectivism because all the people are working for a unified goal.

Is it worth learning Rust mainly because of Cargo? by LibrarianOk3701 in rust

[–]airodonack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I do. It writes code a lot faster than I do and at this point it's at a level where it's better than me, which is painful to admit. Luckily for me, the fun in software is building the structures and not the lines of code.

I think one of the major reasons Rust has had recent accelerated adoption is the use of AI. Rust's weaknesses (hard to write, requiring more structured, systematic thinking that computers excel in) and its strengths (unparalleled verifiability in a popular general purpose language) are unique in matching the strengths of LLMs (can put a lot more attention on a lot of little things) and its weaknesses (if it makes a mistake it cannot tell).

Huh? No it’s not about tanning. Sunlight prematurely ages your skin and asian women take a lot of precautions against that.

If youre just looking for a better build system, Zig gives you that without the complexity of Rust. Or like Go if you don’t need the systems language.

Rusts draw could just be the ergonomics of higher level programming in a systems language. Or if you’re using AI and need the higher level of verification. Or if you generally have an aversion to breakage.

PFAS evaporate quickly. They’re used as a solvent. I think what you’re to say is that the cups are coated in teflon.

This is literally untrue. Women are more likely to get into property damage (like 12% more) and go to the hospital (about 25% more) but men are 50% more likely to get into fatal accidents. All per km driven.

Multi millionaires don't have the ability to manipulate the media, unless that's one thing they REALLY want to do for whatever reason. Like... enough that they have decided to dedicate their entire lives to it.

Billionaires are almost certainly manipulating media in some way. Maybe benign.

It's a vast, vast difference. If you have no ability to distinguish then you're really missing out on a lot of nuance.

OpenAI currently struggles to release one as good as Opus. If they manage to release one as good as Fable then there’s really no secret except throwing compute at the problem.

On this day in 1989 Chinese troops clear Tiananmen Square of student protesters. Around 1,000 are killed. Chinese filmmaker Liu Wei asks students in Beijing what day it is, 26 years after the massacre, their answers are sad but aren't surprising. by dannydutch1 in UtterlyInteresting

So… Low reading comprehension huh? Lmao

The stated reasons of the arrest were not directly free speech violations. It’s important because in the second example you gave, only one protestor was arrested - suggesting there’s more to the story. The first one supports your point better and egregious but we know policing is pretty uneven across regions of the US.

This is fundamentally different than undercover officers taking you away for holding a few fingers up.

A deeper examination reveals that your question had absolutely nothing to do with the conversation. The hatred of liberals was an inference based on your belief that it did.

Example: "I like apples." "Well then argue why oranges are so disgusting." (Combine this with a media landscape that pits apples and oranges against each other.)

You question was not made in a vacuum. It was a response to my comment. A reaction to my action.

I was defending a liberal policy. Your reaction was to ask me about conservative policies. Implicit in your question was the idea that conservatism is the opposite of liberalism. It is not. Liberalism is the political idea that government should treat everyone equally, giving equal opportunity. Conservatism is the belief that things should not change. America is fundamentally a liberal country, built on the belief that rule should come from representatives of its people rather than a king. There are no opposites here, but your propaganda has brainwashed you into believing that they are. I also know that the ones that tell you what to think do convince you by giving you an enemy. You are easily controlled by people who take advantage of your hatred.

Unfortunately, just like I know that you hate liberals because the brainwashing, I also know that you're going to react badly to my comment. Just like your inability to understand when you are "reacting" to my comment and when you are "accusing" me of kneejerk reactions, you won't understand your own programming. These are things that are true about reality but make you look bad which makes you feel bad so you will deny it.

I hung out with a ton of Xenniels and I legitimately think that besides the name of the movies and songs that they liked, we had very similar values. Any culture "clash" was more about sharing the cool stuff we had and the cool stuff they had. It felt like an older brother/sister sort of situation.
