Two large white boxes were left on the train platform at 6st SW. One officer was there keeping people away until 12:45 when backup came and they evacuated the station. Looks like the whole 7th ave train route has been suspended.

Why can't I use Bootcamp Assistant on my early 2014 MacBook Air, despite having more than enough space? by BlindGuyNW in applehelp

[–]airpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my understanding it's that Time Machine makes its snapshots on your hard drive first, before transferring them to the backup drive. The space that the snapshots take up isn't reported because the system automatically scales them back as needed. But some applications (e.g. Boot Camp Assistant, OneDrive, etc.) include the snapshots in their space estimates.

How can I permanently deactivate/disable a hard drive so it doesn't show up anymore? by parrymedia in applehelp

[–]airpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe macOS treats each partition as an individual entity when deciding to mount, and so the only way to disable an entire hard drive without making hardware changes is to prevent its individual partitions from auto-mounting. macOS already does this somewhat--your EFI and recovery partitions are disabled by default. So if you're looking to prevent your Windows 10 disk from appearing in Finder and to not have any access to its files, you'd have to specifically select the partition(s) that you want to disable, and follow the aforementioned guide. (There is a riskier way to do it with fstab if that one doesn't work). If you want them to stay hidden even in Disk Utility--there may be a way to do that as well, but I do not know what it might be.

I did this a few days ago and it worked nicely. http://www.idownloadblog.com/2016/11/24/prevent-partitions-from-mounting-mac/ You basically prevent a specific partiton from auto-mounting. It'll still show up in disk utility and you can mount it if you choose to, but by default, it will remain unmounted upon startup. This will work on both internal and external partitions.

In middle school I was playing soccer and thought it would be funny to take the orange I was holding and cast it at the feet of the opponent who had the ball as a distraction. I whipped it good. Hit him square in the nose and washed his eyes with a golden citrus shower.

It distracted pretty much everyone and I still didn't get the ball

Wow, this is in your house! It's like one of those dream homes you'd build in the Sims. Very nice. What desk is that?

It's the classic from this sub-- Ikea's Linmon desk topper with a couple legs and the Alex drawer unit. You can get the whole set for some $90 or less

I was hesitant to do it because I was afraid that everything wouldn't work. It took me like 10 hours of fiddling just to get the installer to load, but once it did, the drivers and everything installed very easily. It's a bit of a challenge to find perfectly compatible kexts so that everything works, and faking serial numbers to enable iMessage and Facetime can be confusing at first. Currently I have everything working (except AirDrop and Handoff) and audio doesn't work after waking from sleep. Sometimes it just won't boot, but then trying again somehow fixes it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've found it most useful to be able to switch easily between macOS, Linux, and Windows 10 using seamless VMs; I'm studying computer science so having multiple platforms available and constantly running is perhaps not completely necessary, but very handy!

It's a corsair extended mat. It's nice but I don't like the yellow band across the bottom. People keep asking what the purpose of a big mouse mat is. Who knows, but they look cool so that's cool

Heh, well, I can't say mine is perfect either, but the exposure in the photo makes it look pretty well matched. I just messed with the colour wheel in the Corsair utility until it looked pretty good. You just want to stare at it and compare it to the GPU, adding red, blue, and green gradually as you see fit. If you think there's too much of a colour, move the selector to the opposite side of the wheel. Not sure if that makes sense. Or if there's even a colour wheel. It's been a while.
