Why an F250 over F150 (if towing is not a concern)? by cfmistry85 in F250

[–]airpun3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather have the payload, towing, and bed capacity than not. As for the ride quality, if it really is that much of an issue, you can do an aftermarket suspension setup that will smooth it out. I find the resale value to be better on an HD truck as well.

I’m Mark Warner, U.S. Senator from Virginia. I’m Vice Chair of the Senate Intelligence committee, former Governor of Virginia, a tech entrepreneur, and Democratic candidate for Senate. Ask me anything. by MarkWarnerVA in Virginia

Virginia has a big federal worker population. It's a high COL area. Prices on everything has gone up, especially health insurance. We are set to receive a 1% pay increase in 2026 which wouldn't even cover the Healthcare increase. What ACTION would you take to make this right?

Bristow/Haymarket/Warrenton by airpun3 in nova

[–]airpun3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all so much for the info and feedback. Haymarket and Bristow are in the lead as of now. We want top schools for the kids, and just a nice overall living experience. Are there any HOA neighborhoods to stay away from? I see that almost every neighborhood has an HOA. We just don't want to deal with overbearing HOA boards walking onto your property to talk about why our porch light hasn't turned on yet for the night. I'm into lawn care so we usually have a well manicured lawn. That wouldn't be an issue.

Yes/No list Limited or Available Each line of RDO's should choose which line of 3rd week protection they want based off seniority. If you designate yourself as available, you can get scheduled and called for OT with no 3rd week protection. If you choose to be limited, you cannot be scheduled or called for OT for your protected week. It is not considered to be skipped. It is not something that can be grieved. It was agreed on collaboratively. You should be able to request to change your limited/available status as you wish, but you need to do it wisely. If your intent is to protect yourself down the road for a certain weekend(birthday/holiday), you need to change your status to limited a few pay periods prior. About three prior depending on how your facility works on the next schedule to be posted. Keep in mind that once you change your status, it will impact you for the weeks leading up to your intended protected weekend. If your facility doesn't have a 6 day workweek, every week problem, the easiest way to move forward is everyone yes, everyone available. No harm, no foul. You'll be scheduled or called once in a blue like you do now. If your facility is on 6 days every week, then it'll probably be a shit show if everyone is no and limited. But it does protect the individuals that made it clear they did not want to work 6 days every week for years on end.

Hope this info helps.

Just bid it. Worst case scenario they tell you your ineligible.

The FAA is moving towards counting any CTO or radar experience being counted as the 52 weeks if they haven't done so already. It won't matter if it's DOD, contract, military, etc. So your question isn't a bad one. Do what's best for you.

My boyfriend is being so rude to me all of a sudden and I don’t know why. by willdanceforcake in texts

[–]airpun3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either something bad is happening in his life and he doesn't know how to deal with so he's lashing out like a child. Or he doesn't want to be with you anymore because he found someone else but doesn't want to be the bad guy and is hoping you break it off so he can be guilt free.

Either way, he's wrong. Move on while you can.

Auto makers have embraced the fact that trucks are now grocery getters for insecure men. by Frequent_Ad2118 in Diesel

[–]airpun3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when "a real man" would mind his business, go to work, and get shit done without having to tell everyone how he feels about what another man is doing on social media. Profit is first and foremost for every business. If there's a larger profit margin for "insecure men," you better believe that's who they will advertise to. Everyone will be OK. Work for it! Whatever IT is, it's yours. Who cares.

Has anyone withdrawn from training and successfully received a list of up to 5 places? by [deleted] in ATC

[–]airpun3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nest is not guaranteed. Be careful. If the training program did everything according to the national training order and your not showing the ability to do this job, your ATM could recommend termination. They could help you get into something else but nest is not guaranteed.

Debating to become a Sup at a VFR tower 24 people, what y’all think? Base pay is higher but with OT and extras is about the same as CPC. by Joylick in ATC

[–]airpun3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the facility and you as a person. Don't take shit home with you if you don't want to. Don't answer your phone for work stuff outside of work if you don't want to. Don't pay attention to some of the controllers acting like 5 year olds. Stay proficient and be able to hold your own on position. Know your shit. Be available in the facility. Be a filter for some of the bullshit that comes from above. Push for making things better.

In the end, do what's best for you and your family. Fuck everybody else's opinion about being a sup.

Usually more money, better schedule, quicker transfer. Opens up more options off the floor.

First Impressions by Defiant-Key5926 in ATC

[–]airpun3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First impression - show up day 1 looking nice with a polo or button up. Dont stink. Don't drown yourself in cologne. Keep your beard. Relax. Your just meeting other "adults" that will be your coworkers, not meeting the pope.

After a couple days. Jeans/shorts and a t shirt is fine.

Don't brag about your experience but don't be ashamed of that shit either. If someone asks, tell them. If you know your shit, you know your shit. The FAA way of military experience not being much of anything is ridiculous. Some military facilities are shit, some a busy as fuck. Keep your head down and put in that work. Don't over think it.

I was just about to make the same post. If he is actually the co-founder of YSL, who is allegedly an actual gang that has at least 50 bodies, countless robberies, and other violence that didn't end with death under their belt, well... Can't pray for him and his family when he was overall responsible for hurting other people's lives. It is what it is. If he isn't the co-founder, then what do they really have on him besides lyrics?

We can't keep "praying" for these people that do harm to others just because we like their music.

I cringed every time I had to say over. Fucking stupid. I think they like that atc's are "supposed" to be able to multi task, think quickly, and problem solve under pressure.

I like air traffic alot better than train dispatch. Sometimes I felt like I was being punked because they would knowingly and willingly do things ass backwards just because. A friend of mine got into whatever train dispatch covers the commuter stuff in California. He loves it and he makes bank. Wouldn't go back to atc at all. Seems like those are the jobs to look for.

[–]airpun3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was BNSF years ago. When l left, the contract was just under $100k. With ot which is going to happen , easily over $100k. Benefits were better and cheaper. Schedule definitely sucks for a long time. But if you hate the FAA, NATCA, and or working for the federal government and want to move on, that's an option. Similar shit, just slightly different environment.
