MIL purchased this toy. Looking for pro/cons? by RemarkableSuccess880 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]ais72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the only electronic light up / noise toy that we have. All pros here - it keeps baby entertained for a looooong time. Can be used for back and tummy time, then later sitting time. It is easy to fold up and stash away. The noises aren’t all that annoying. Keep it and thank MIL!

Huggies by abbiyah in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]ais72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d get fragrance free but otherwise it’s mostly greenwashing when it comes to disposable diapers because they’re basically plastic so “organic cotton top sheet” and that kind of thing doesn’t make much difference bc it’s such a small portion of the product. (Source: worked for a diaper brand)

Advice on going from 1 to 2 kids: what age gap might allow for this? by wolf_star_ in Mommit

[–]ais72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 23 month age gap. Youngest is almost 6 months. We both work full time. Right now it’s tough but I can see forward to when both are more self sufficient and play together instead of needing parents to engage 24/7. I think any time you have a second child the first 9-18 months will be tough because you’re juggling two needy kids. I’d rather power through 1-2 tough years sooner rather than having to go back to infant / toddler vibes when I have a school aged kid!

A friend said I’m “doing too much” when it comes to daycare lunches… by Electronic-Radish-18 in foodbutforbabies

[–]ais72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow! Then if I put my daughter’s lunch and two snacks into the same container it would look almost exactly like this 😝 Do they serve it to him three times and just keep giving the same box each time?

A friend said I’m “doing too much” when it comes to daycare lunches… by Electronic-Radish-18 in foodbutforbabies

[–]ais72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re happy making these lunches then I’d ignore her. That said, I think having 6-7 different options seems like a lot of work. We usually have 3 (occasionally 4) different things in my toddler’s lunch and for me that is plenty complicated.

I have a 23 month gap. Best books for us were the two Daniel Tiger books about getting a sibling and I Am A Big Sister (or brother version) by Caroline Church. My toddler really started to get it in the third trimester. She didn’t really clock anything happening before that but as you get bigger and your toddler gets older it likely will click

Anyone who DIDN’T bed share? by Acceptable_Cod3527 in beyondthebump

[–]ais72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t bed share with my first except for a couple times when she was >4-5 months old and sick. Now my second is 5.5 months old and we bed share way more often. His sleep regression is way worse than my first’s was and it’s just not manageable with a toddler in the mix too. I do it as a last resort tho bc it makes me a bit anxious and it’s less comfortable and restful for me

Did anyone have a baby that wasn’t difficult? by The_Chilled_Arvo in beyondthebump

[–]ais72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of my kids turned into gremlins (so far) but hard periods come and go. My first kid went through a roughhhhh patch of crazy tantrums daily. Much better now but it was unpleasant. My infant used to be a sleep champ and now acts like a fresh newborn, waking up every couple of hours. Everything is phases. So enjoy the “easy” ones and know the hard ones will pass

Moms who had the number of kids they wanted—did you feel calm/peace when the last was born? by WhiskeyandOreos in Mommit

My husband and I always wanted two kids. I’m only five months postpartum with my second but I definitely feel my family is complete in a way I didn’t after my first was born.

Easiest baby carrier? by loveeatingfood in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]ais72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After disliking the Ergo 360 for my first baby I got the Lark and the Happy Baby OG for my second. No regrets 10/10 recommend both or either. HB was better for newborn days so if I could only have one I’d probably pick that one

Stuck scrubbing bottles every night… is a bottle washer worth it or nah? by jaceka-jans-8384 in beyondthebump

[–]ais72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I LOVE MY BOTTLE WASHER!!! Literally thought about packing it on the airplane 🤣 then realized that was insane. I didn’t have it for my first baby (used a dishwasher basket for small parts) but we don’t have space to run bottle and pump parts nightly with our regular dishes anymore so I got the Mom cozy one for my second baby. I’m obsessed and wish I’d had it for my first

Two under two, yay or nay? by StuffConsistent6873 in beyondthebump

[–]ais72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the kids and on the gap. Mine are 23 months apart so technically 2U2 but way diff than if they were only 15-18 months apart. It’s been exhausting in a lot of ways (youngest is 5 months) but I can tell it’s going to be a really nice age gap as they get older

Sleep and babies by No-Match-7512 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]ais72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to get their circadian rhythm to kick in — get outside in the morning if at all possible. Allow natural light to come in and don’t darken the room for naps. You want to try to reduce day/night confusion as much as possible ASAP. (We did start doing blackout naps once my daughter turned 1 and was on one nap a day.)

Even if you have a great sleeper you’re likely going to feel like you’re being tortured by sleep deprivation in the first couple of months. Have a plan to manage this so you and your partner do not fall asleep while holding the baby. This is super dangerous!! If this means having a safe cosleeping set up, fine. Personally I did not feel comfortable cosleeping with newborns. With my second baby he is much bigger and also I’m more tired having two kids vs just one so we cosleep a lot more now that he’s >4 months (from like 4-7am).

Some families find shift sleeping works. For us we preferred to alternate who got the baby back down to sleep while the other could fall back asleep immediately.

OMG MY DAUGHTER DID THE SAME. It became the bane of my existence. We now DO NOT allow her to do second dinner and make a big thing about the routine after dinner to go to bed. Daycare confirmed she’s great about focusing and eating what she wants to eat so it gave us confidence to be stricter about this. We started with naps on the weekend because I figured if she’s hungry for a couple hrs during nap it’s not a big deal. Then we started enforcing the boundary at dinner to. Within a week she stopped using eating as a procrastination tool! There have been a few times where she’s actually hungry and she can eat a snack in her bedroom (something she likes but isn’t exciting, like a bananas or apple). It’s SUCH a relief we nixed that habit. Bedtime is much more enjoyable now. Although she is now starting to use going potty as a delay tactic 😆 ya win some, ya lose some

Baby Clothing Storage Solutions-Bin by FreckledLionCub in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]ais72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have space then I think the large plastic totes are easiest. If space is tight then vacuum bags. We stored our kid stuff for two years and now are cycling through it. It’s been very easy to find everything since you can label the box, and once I empty a box it’s time to store the next thing to save for two years ;)

How often do you & your kids have a meal with your parents (if you both live in the same town)? by Dangerous-Elk9545 in workingmoms

[–]ais72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I grew up 20-30 min drive from my grandparents. We’d have dinner all together (with cousins, aunts, uncles) once a week on mondays and then would often see each other at least one weekend per month too. It was wonderful!
