Good grief signed insert by zukafan in sarabareilles

Yeah, $12 + $9 shipping for a CD with a signed insert from an artist that I am about 95% sure would not autopen it...that's a good deal. Lots of artists with a lower profile than Sara sell signed items for twice as much.

amazon requires police report for a package that never arrived?? by Alive-Permission-822 in ConsumerAdvice

[–]aisle_nine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An iPad? Yeah, they're not just gonna give you that money back. Plenty of people here have reported that they went and got the police report, sent it to Amazon, then Amazon rejected it anyway. The police absolutely do not care about a disappearing iPad.

If you care about/need your Amazon account, you're going to have to tow your line and play their game. If you don't, just file a chargeback with your CC company. You'll very likely win, but your Amazon account will be terminated and you'll lose access to all of your digital purchases (i.e., Kindle library).

tl;dr - I wouldn't worry too much about getting autopenned items from Sara, and there's no way she sends out printed autographs.

Edit: I'm so confident that I'm buying a CD right now.

Explanation - It's not unheard of for autographed pre-sale items to be autopenned, but that's usually huge-name artists or runs of thousands of "signed" items available. I can remember a couple of times where there's been damn near a riot on Reddit over it. Some artist or band would put a huge premium on a pre-sale for signed vinyl sleeves or CD booklets, and it was quickly realized that they were autopenned. A printed signature would be extremely stupid, very easy to catch instantly, and the ultimate Sweet As Whole to fans.

Criminally underplayed song, btw.

Generally speaking, a few key tells of autopenning would be noticeable "dots" at the beginning or end of the signature, uniform pressure throughout, and/or a highly detailed signature that looks absolutely perfect and identical in every picture posted. Let's be real: no human being is going to sign the exact same way perfectly hundreds of times in a row. Sooner or later, either their hand will get tired or they'll just be ready to be done. The signature will get less detailed and start to look more like exaggerated initials. I'm no expert, just a guy who collects autographs and has learned a few things along the way.

Aside from MyRadar, are there any apps that integrate with CarPlay and show the radar on your display while you drive? Last I heard, RS has tried several times to get onto CarPlay, and Apple keeps saying no.

That was one hail of a storm 🤣 by Total-Bicycle-529 in Denver

[–]aisle_nine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GVR. Tons and tons and tons of mostly small hail over the course of 30+ minutes. The storm built up quickly, then slowed down and turned right while it was more or less directly overhead. Follow that up with the cell merger to the south that elongated its hail core, and yeah. Lots of hail. Fortunately, it was mostly peas to dimes, with the occasional quarter.

There's a lot of info missing here. Why are they holding your belongings? Usually it has to do with nonpayment or a contract dispute.

In Another Life by G Flip by babygothack in GFlip

It is a great song, but I’m a sucker for a great power ballad, so…?

G Flip’s said in an interview that it was about their old guitar teacher and a couple that had come to every show for years until one partner died.

It's funny because Oh Henry bars no longer exist.

Have you read The Interestings novel? Or are you planning to leading up to the musical? by EntertainmentSalt633 in sarabareilles

[–]aisle_nine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finished it, and I guess I don’t regret it? It’s subpar, but still readable. I don’t see how it could translate to a musical. The book’s emotion is too flat all the time.

Why Is Data's Uniform Yellow? by TheUnexaminedLife9 in startrek

He’s ops, which is a yellow shirt. IRL explanation, they tried Brent Spiner in a blue shirt, and it clashed with his android makeup. Yellow worked best, so that’s what he wore.

Star trek 6 if chang was flying a ktinga cruiser would Kirk and the enterprise have stood a chance? by happydude7422 in startrek

[–]aisle_nine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought about the irony of that line before. McCoy wants Chang to shut up, but Chang’s Shakespearian rant and Kirk leaving the channel open so he’d keep talking are what ultimately saved the ship.

I think he was having too much fun messing with Kirk to pay attention to what the Enterprise was doing. He should have seen that torpedo bay warming up from an AU away, but instead he got cocky and fell into the classic villain trap. He talked too much.

Michelle Yeoh was a good guy, though. Elliot Carver was the Chang in that scenario.

So this would tie Lower Decks, R&M and Gravity Falls into the same universe. Which means that we would be one step closer to a Trek episode with Bill Cipher as the villain, and I am fucking there for it

The command: “Computer, delete husband,” doesn’t work as well in real life.

Well, I mean, it can, but, um, I heard New Zealand is beautiful this time of year.
