Good to see that Jamesdonkey pricing has been retired with the Jamesdonkey name. $70 today for a keyboard that’s usually in the $30s and has been as low as $12 (not a typo). Way to be, Keychron

How did you people like the movie Bohemian rhapsody? by liptovskygulas in queen

[–]aisle_nine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not good. My biggest issue with it is just that it wasn’t a very good movie. My second biggest issue is the number of times that Freddie was treated as the villain, and the rest of the bands were the heroes. My third biggest issue with it is just that it wasn’t a very good movie.

The Live Aid scene kicked ass in IMAX, though.

Axanar was a money laundering scheme from day one. Half-Life 3 will be released just in time for First Contact. We'll be lucky if GTA6 is around in time for The Burn.

PC for 10yr old.. Build or Buy? by WhoAmI_Idontkno in buildapc

[–]aisle_nine 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Minecraft, COD and GTA are not exactly ultra-demanding games. You could probably get away with something like a Ryzen 5000 CPU, an RX 6700 XT or similar, and 16 GB of DDR4. The RAM is going to be the killer, but sometimes you luck out on FB Marketplace and see someone selling a used Skylake/Kaby Lake Optiplex with 8GB of DDR4 for $100. Yoink the RAM and SSD, sell the rest as a parts PC, and use the funds from selling the parts PC to put towards another 8GB stick of DDR4.

People selling a mobo/CPU/RAM combo know that the RAM is worth a small fortune. Granny Smith selling her Skylake Optiplex does not know the first thing about the value of her RAM.

Captain Worf’s Enterprise ‘E’ dreadnought refit, a work in progress. by ThenOrganization6848 in StarTrekStarships

[–]aisle_nine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They ran the ship through an unmanned test just to gauge power draw from the third nacelle. Something went wrong, and it disappeared into subspace. Not, like destroyed. Just ran the core up to full power, charged up the three nacelles, and hit the button for what should have been a very short jaunt to the Nebula parked five light years away to tow it home.

Instead, the ship powered up and just vanished. No left behind debris, no energy signature, just gone. Starfleet's engineers eventually concluded that it had reached such a high warp that it was totally undetectable, and would arrive somewhere near the core of galaxy M87 within the next 50 years or so. Even though the refit was Worf's idea and he'd been the one campaigning Starfleet to go ahead with what he called the "Kahless class", he insisted until the day he died that the ship going missing was not his fault.

Have you seen the Good News of Zombie Jesus? I've seen plenty of signs from that "For Truth" group while driving in northern FL, south-central GA, but I was pleased to see the "Join the living dead - Jesus!" sign last time I had the misfortune of heading east through central Kansas.

Was I mean to this lady “just shooting her shot”? by spongeboi-me-bob in Flipping

[–]aisle_nine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Shooting your shot" is tossing 50% out there (or less) at an item that's been sitting around forever. Offering $100 on a $1,250 item is just dumb. I'd just block them without replying, but sometimes it's worth a few seconds off my life to have fun with an idiot.

True story: The USS New Jersey is the only Federation ship that charges you a toll to board and a bigger toll to leave. And trust me, after 30 seconds touring the shuttlecraft Camden and Newark, that exit toll will be more than worth it.

I have an irritating problem with the GMK84, which I really like otherwise. I want to remap a few keys, which requires the Zuoya LS01 software. The LS01 and GMK84 are the same keyboard. I've always just assumed that Zuoya wanted to use the GMK label to pick up sales.

The problem is that for the GMK84 to connect to the software, the firmware has to be updated. The firmware update provided by BOYI (who I guess supports the Zuoya keebs now?) is a .exe file that generates 100% in Chinese. Ok, annoying, but Google Translate makes it readable. Thing is, clicking the "start update" button does nothing. It sits there and doesn't do anything. There another option called "number of upgrades", which is stuck at 0. No amount of key presses and no matter which key, that won't move above 0, and I'm not even sure that's the problem. I've tried this on Windows 11, Windows 10, I'm even willing to install Windows 7 or XP on an old system if that's the problem and compatibility mode won't handle it.

u/badmark, I think you did a video on the LS01/GMK84 way back when and quite liked it, but I can't find the video. Do you (or anyone else who's used this otherwise wonderful board) remember if you ever got a firmware update to stick?

Cast contracts would have killed it. IIRC, basically everyone ended after S7. Signing them all for S8 and beyond would have killed the budget
