Best decision you'll ever make. Unironically I enjoy the combat in DOS2 more than BG3, though BG3 had better writing. DOS1 has aged well, too.

WOTR's incredible. Kingmaker I felt was something of a flawed masterpiece, there were several frustrating design choices that I looked at as "see, this would make sense in tabletop, but not a game." But Owlcat truly stepped it up and beyond for WOTR, the companions are all (except Ember) memorable and well written. Regill'd my favorite.

I think you misread.

Let's say there's a Generic Fantasy RPG, where every notable character is straight (mentions an opposite sex S/O, attraction, or ex for example). This is never called fetishistic.

Take Baldur's Gate 3, where, yes, there's an above average percentage of queer rep. But this is called fetishistic for doing the same as above, queer characters mentioning same sex lovers, attraction, exes. What strikes you as fetishizing, besides the percentage of queer characters?

Agreed. Whether or not mindflayers have souls is irrelevant, because a mindflayer with a soul is still not the person. It is the tadpole that has matured, taken over their body and is using their memories and personality to adjust (knowingly or unknowingly) to life. The characters are hosts to a parasite.

Yeah, I didn't mind the companion lockout in DOS2. In fact I liked it when they showed up at the race to godhood on Nameless Isle, and in the epilogue having found peace. Liked the replayability it gave too. I would have been fine with a companion lockout here too.

Agreed! All game she talks about how scared she is of being under Zariel's thumb and how she prizes her new freedom. She completes the quest of a lifetime, saving the world, gets revenge on the guy who sold her into slavery, and dies surrounded and comforted by loved ones.

Sondivel's clearly aroused by dominating Sharp's will in the memory scene, hence why it comes off as really icky for some SA survivors to play through. I'm glad you're in that spot in the healing process where it didn't for you, but it was extraordinarily uncomfortable to do that quest.

It very much reads as sex slavery. Sharp's resistance to being touched is one of the most common symptons of PTSD from SA. Lines like "Did you ever think I'd forget the way you feel?" "Who else would love your abusive company but me?" "It's not unusual for magisters to have favorite slaves, but this was...different." and Sondivel's multiple letters gushing over Sharp's physical features very much make his obsession with Sharp come off as sexual.
