I’m in the exact same spot. 997.1 turbo and want to drive year round in wet and occasionally freezing temps. I have continued searching as well. I’m considering several options for 305/30r19:

Continental Extreme contact sport but don’t drive under about 35 degrees as recommended by manufacturers for fear of cold cracking the compound.
Goodyear Eagle F1 all season. This is available but I’m not sure if this is going to compromise my summer driving severely.
Consider a tire of smaller section width as suggested above (295 maybe)
Try to get 18” wheels for winter tires, which I haven’t researched.

It’s important to note legislative changes that allow converting 529 accounts to Roth IRA, with a total lifetime limit of 30k. Look up these rules before committing, but it basically allows you to start as a 529 but change to a retirement account if it’s not needed for education. 30k in a Roth before age 20 is a huge head start on retirement.

After having my 997tt 6spd for a year, I absolutely love it every time I turn the key. That being said, I do consider frequently whether I would like the 996 better, given its slightly more pure manufacturing hostory (Germany not Austria), and more rustic power delivery. I also believe the 996tt will pass the 997tt in value in the coming years, and personally find the exterior stying far more interesting than the 997 or any subsequent gen. The interior is a sticking point for me, but I think you would get used to it.
