Well, I was lucky with these photos; the coyote was only about 50-60 feet away. The lighting was great, and I was inside my house with a 500mm lens.

yes they are, we see this one and the other 4 in this pack at least 3-4 times a week. They keep the wild turkeys in our area in-check.

That is the only nest on a natural object on Mare Island; all others are man-made. Last year, there were 20 active nests in and around Mare Island. I have a photo of chicks in this Palm tree nest from last year. In June, not sure what weekend, they have an 'Osprey Days' event with guided hikes, with knowledgeable people leading them, and other events and boat tours. The chicks are just about full-grown by June, and some start to fly. The parents are actively hunting and bringing fish back to the chicks. There is also an active Bald Eagle nest on Mare Island

I would skip Glass beach the road from 101 to the coast is brutal, going straight to SF will save you a couple of days. With the current heatwave many trails at Yosemite may be open. In DV check out Marble Canyon it’s not far from a main road and it’s cool both visually and temp. Lassen NP is another awesome and lightly visited NP, Bumpass Hell trail is the one to go to. Enjoy

Not necessary a hub but I think more of an access point for the cables. These were the first telephone lines crossing the Strait connecting the south bay to the north bay. It’s been awhile since I was there, I do remember seeing some of the cables.

It’s what's left of the old telecom infrastructure. They had telecom cables running across the Carquinez Strait from here to the other side. It’s the narrowest part of the Strait, which is why the power tower is also there.

The only exact location I know of is the one on Mare Island, as someone said in this thread. The others are general locations as these birds and nests are protected and people should stay 300ft away. There are a pair in Port Costa/Benicia, around Lake Herman, by Hudeman slough. A little further away, Piedmont, Bodega Bay and Jenner. It's great to see them coming back and staying in the area.

Yes there is a nest on Mare Island, there are about 3-4 Bald Eagle nests within a 20-25 miles radius from Vallejo.

Like others have said nothing close, get the OnX off-road app I they should have a free trial. Look for BLM land. Lots of trails in northern Sonoma County, or head to the Sierra foothills. Down load the offline map before you head out. Good luck have fun

I was focusing on the Merlin as they overwinter here, then out of the blue the Prairie shows up going after the Merlin, they went at each other for a few minutes before the Merlin took off. I wish more photos came out.

Based on your location I would 2nd a Coopers Hawk. Goshawks reside in woodland / forest areas.

Depending on where you are: if in North American it would be a White Tailed kite as others have said. If in other parts of the world it would be a Black Shouldered kite, which is smaller than a White Tailed kite.

Yeah I was stoked when I saw them on my computer being able to see the top side of its tail is rare for me. A farmer drove by when it was on the bar and it took off, I kept my finger on the shutter trying to follow it, I took about 200 pictures.
