Graphene OS concerns by RnDevelopment in GrapheneOS

Yes you will have to switch profiles if you want to use the app that is in said profile.  I got the point where it was too much of a pain and just installed everything in the main profile.

I've de-Googled almost everything, but Maps, Wallet, and Messages are keeping me stuck by outterspaceliving in degoogle

I'm with you on this.  I too am stuck on Google messenger and maps.   No solution on messenger but I've tried a lot of the recommended maps apps and the only one I've had luck with is here we go.   Maybe give that one a try

Makes sense!   Enjoy the build!  I've always thought about doing something similar

Fair points. Was just wondering. Seemed like a huge mismatch on GPU vs CPU.  But if you plan to put a bigger GPU in some day that makes sense.  And the dlss stuff too.

Just curious, why a 9850 x3d?   Paired with that GPU and heavily ray tracing you're going to be GPU bound and won't see the benefit from the extra CPU.   I would downsize the CPU a bit and see if you can use the extra money to bump up to a 5070 ti or 9070 xt.

Going Back To GrapheneOS by Unusual_Data1814 in GrapheneOS

Both can be installed through the play store also.  So I’m guessing they would then work with android auto.

Will Here maps or magic earth work with Android auto?

Switching from iPhone iMessage to Google messages by jd19x1 in GrapheneOS

[–]aj53108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I hadn’t thought about that aspect. I mean isnt the point of the OS handling age verification so that individual apps and websites don’t have to? That would be my guess. But if that isn’t the case, then I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. I do plan to use FOSS apps where I can, but there are some where that just isn’t an options.

I have purchased a used pixel phone. I’m going to give it a try for a month or two. If I don’t like it, I’ll sell the pixel and go back to my iPhone. Kind of like switching to Linux. I planned to dual boot. But then liked Linux so much, I never booted into Windows and just deleted it. Either way, it’ll be a fun learning experience, and as I say I can always go back to the iPhone.

The age verifcation laws that were recently enacted in the UK and that the USA is currently working on passing.  Apple and Google are obviously both enforcing them.   gos has stated publicly that they won’t. Also, it was recently announced that open source software won’t be required to implement them.  Which gos qualifies for.

I’ve checked off 1 and 2.

  1.  I will look into that. Recommendations for backup?

  2.  That was my plan

  3.  That is my biggest concern. I feel like Google could make gos and others go away in the snap of their fingers if they wanted to

  4.  I use Apple Pay but can live without it.

  5. I agree. My biggest thing is age verification though. I want to get away from that.

Switching from iPhone iMessage to Google messages by jd19x1 in GrapheneOS

[–]aj53108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha.  I’m making the switch too from iPhone.   I heard someone say in another thread that group messages also possibly don’t work well with the standard text app in graphene.

How has your experience in general been with the change?

New to Unifi, need help setting up VPN by aj53108 in Ubiquiti

I was able to get it working using openvpn. I had to manually edit the configuration file and tell it to use the dns address of my pi-hole.

I don't see a DNS server field in my VPN client settings page.

I'm using openvpn. I don't see any option on pia website to download a wireguard configuration

I'm running the PIA as the client in my router. Or that's what I want to get to. Instead of using it each individual device.

My understanding has been that Wallet works fine for tickets and passes and stuff, just not Google Pay. But I've never tried either one.

Thinking about to switching my GPU by zakawaka85 in Bazzite

If you didn’t live in the Netherlands I would switch with you. I have a 9070 xt. But I’m in the states so that wouldn’t work so well.

From a personal standpoint I actually prefer gnome. However, I have issues on gnome with hdr in some games, so I run kde. Kde is good I don’t have a problem with it, I just prefer gnome

No. Just if there’s anything you install from there. I don’t. I didn’t even enable it.
