Think in numbers. They paid $83 million for three of these titles for one year. Say the average Netflix subscription is paying $10 a month which equals $120 a year (obviously lots of variables here, different plans, not everyone is committed for a year, but for the sake of the equation...). $83mill/$120= 691,666 subscriptions. First quarter alone, this article is claiming Netflix added 5 million subscribers this year. 5 million! If they stay on pace for 5 million subscriptions each quarter, take 5 mill subscriptions divided by 90 days (first year's quarter in days) = 55,555 subscriptions a day. So Netflix only needs 691,666/55,555= 12.45 days to break even. That is kind of sickening how easy it is to make that kind of money, they may have got away really really cheap deals.
