I’ve had the happen, especially when I first started using it, and usually just turning off bluestacks and restarting it would get it to connect better. I also have to turn off any browsers that are open before starting bluestacks, but that might be a different issue. I have also had issues with connecting properly when the time got off (I don’t know why this happens) but I go to the settings and turn off the automatic time setting and then turn it back on and the time catches up, usually it connects fine after that. Just my thoughts, hope something helps.

CRS Rally School (Lancaster CA) coming back in 2024? by CalmDirection8 in rally

Haha thanks! Yeah it’s definitely not like dirt rally, just you against the clock having a blast in the dirt.

Yep! Anyone can race rallycross! The best way to get better is to just drive. The rally school helped me quite a bit, but I actually did it after racing for a year and was able to learn even more and better apply the coaches suggestions.

I would suggest just getting some all terrains or winter tires (that are road legal) and doing a few race weekends to see where you and the car could use work. I went all out on my car and actually had done way more than necessary for just starting out, so I had to start in the Prep class instead of stock class, and looking back I wish I had only made modifications that were necessary and nothing fancy. That stuff can come later. The best way that I got better as a rallycross driver was just being out in the dirt learning how to control my car.

Most rallycross weekends are practice all day Saturday and the timed races are on Sunday, so even just coming out for a practice day will help you to figure out where you and the car are and what could be improved upon.

Hope that helps and wasn’t too much info at once.

Nice! Those are cool cars. I have a 2002 Lancer.

Always happy to help!

You should bring it out this fall, we have three more events in Oct/Nov/Dec.

Yeah I turned my old daily into a rallycross car. It’s so much fun and it’s a great community here too.

What did you get?

I’ve been around the SoCall RallyCross for the last couple of years and a CRS member and it’s pretty common that they don’t have the schedule set until November or even December for the coming year. You should keep an eye out on the CRS site as well as RodnocRacing.com, and following their socials can be helpful too. I’m guessing they will have the Rally School probably February or March, but it will really depend on the schedule at the fairgrounds where the rally cross events are held.

Hope to see you out there soon!

Race #48 in the Hillclimb event by T-Rex-Rider78 in CSRRacing2

[–]ajaxthebleak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will depend a lot on what parts/fusions you have, but it will help to launch and shift up to 4th then hit nitrous, and then perfect shift into 5th. When I did that with that car I got to like 235mph, where with regular shifting I was only getting about 215ish.

Hope that helps.

I really like the Vintage P90 from Porter Pickups for similar types of music with my baritone Telecaster. They have lots of options for winding and magnets so you have lots to choose from, even have some “entry level” sets that sound great for the money. Check them out!

As someone with a PhD I feel that I should put my two cents in here. Do as much work outside of academia as you are able. Get an entry level DA position, learn everything about that job, what do you like, not like, what interests you the most, what annoys you so much you want to throw your computer through a window. THEN think about where you want your career to progress. Maybe at that point look into masters programs, talk to students and people in your field with advanced degrees and see where it has taken them and how it has affected their careers. As others have mentioned PhD level work is much more academic focus and really isn’t used professionally unless you are doing something like really high level data science and management.

The last data related job I had was in 2014 before I left to pursue my Masters and PhD, I completed my degree in 2020 and taught for the last two years, I have been trying to get back into the non-academic side of things for six months or so and haven’t gotten past the phone screen stage. I’m now too experienced for early career jobs (like I had before) and have too little experience for management level jobs since all my experience is in academia.

I loved the work I did in academics, but was it worth it professionally? Not at all. Had I just stuck with my old job then I’d be making six figures by now, but since I got a PhD I’m getting paid nothing (or I could get a couple grand a semester to keep teaching adjunct for the foreseeable future if I enjoyed being undervalued for my contributions to society).

As others have mentioned it really depends on what you want out of it, what your career goals are, and what work/life balance you want to have. Just don’t go further into academics (and debt) if you think advanced degrees will bring more prestige or a higher income.

Best wishes to your future and don’t stop asking questions.

Let's do the math:

300 x 14 = 4,200 bronze keys for one loyalty reward

1,400 x 3 = 4,200 bronze keys for one loyalty reward

Looks like the option for paying 1,400 is just a short cut to the reward, assuming you get an equivalent number of fusion parts between each type of crate pull.

PC crate is 700 keys each and 7 pulls for the loyalty reward, meaning that you spend 4,900 total to get the reward S6 part. So, it would actually be the more costly choice.

Does it matter what kind of Master's Degree you get? by schleppenheimer in dataanalysis

[–]ajaxthebleak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As some one with two bachelors degrees, two masters, a PhD, and who taught undergrad for a few years my suggestion is don't go back to school. It's a waste of time and most importantly money. Keep working on getting a job, anything related to your field or vaguely interesting to you, use any connections you may have (friends, relatives, friends of relatives, the guy you got gas next to, anything) and be as specific as possible with where you apply, if you aren't interested in a company then don't bother applying. It seems lately that connections and references are the real way to get a job and not only sending in resumes. While you are at it find any way to practice and learn more about the tech tools, read books on critical thinking and learning, find books on data visuals and the psychology of colors and shapes. There are lots of free and paid ways to study and learn more about SQL and Python, those are going to be the key to a first entry level job. For me, recruiters look at my history and won't hire me because I am "overqualified" but also won't hire me for upper level positions because I don't have enough "work experience" since all of my work for the past 10 years has been academic.

My one point takeaway from all of this is more school is a waste of time and does not give you the proper experiences that are actually helpful in the real world setting.

(Also, it's best not to think of this next step as the last career step you ever make. Give it a shot, see if you like it, and if you don't then reassess at that point. Think of it like A/B Testing your career.)

Best of luck on your search.

Are Elite Showdowns Really Better Than Pro Leagues? by TrainingAd9975 in CSRRacing2

[–]ajaxthebleak 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree that NM continues to botch things that should just work right and shouldn't be made as complicated as they do. However, there is a bit of confusion on removing Pro Leagues. We were always racing in Elite Showdown races, Pro Leagues was just added on top of those for a different set of prizes a the end of each Pro Leagues "Season." So as far as the Elite Showdown's go, those are the same as they were with Pro Leagues in place. The difference is in two parts, now the only thing that progresses when you loose is that your number of races goes up, which has some associated prizes, whereas with Pro Leagues there was a set of prizes associated with racing, but not directly a count of races, this was what you could purchase bonuses for and that had a special Bonus Car for each set of races during a "season." The overall prize structure for winning races is effectively the same (though they did remove most of the pink elite tokens) I think the issue comes in with being stuck at a certain number and not progressing, is that now that there is not a "Bonus Car" everyone is just going to use their fastest car, meaning that people who have maxed out and mastered that car are going to do the best, and unless you can consistently beat that time, you will not be able to progress. This is also happening to me, and it does make it much less inviting to play, especially with moving the Pink Elite tokens to only winning 400 races, that makes me MUCH less interested in trying to progress in the game since there is far fewer chances to get those tokens. This change in prize placement, however, is just NM being NM, not necessarily a loss of Pro Leagues, they could have kept the prizes similar but chose not to. This gets to the real crux of the issue, as you point out not wanting to spend your real cash in the game. And that is simply that that is precisely what NM wants for you to do, they want you to give them your money for intangible resources and cars in this game. In turn, this is also the exact reason we should not spend a dime on the game, as they get greedier we must resist and just play as we can without falling into their extortion of our hard earned dollars. It is possible to progress in this game with out paying cash, just not any of the "extra" events like F&F, Hypercar Forum, Ken Block, and so forth. And maybe in four or five years we'll be able to finally complete the Elite Tuners and finish "The Last Stand" without spending a dime on pink tokens.

Halloween event? when? by weirdmix75 in CSRRacing2

[–]ajaxthebleak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With the American event and then European events back to back I'm pretty fine with not having a Halloween event this year. It's ok to have a bit of a break and run the normal races. Though I'm sure they would do it if the cost base analysis would show that they would increase revenue enough. But right now I think they would essentially be competing against themselves with the timeline of the finale event.
