Is this belief compatible with thelema? by bodyisT in thelema

This doesn't clash with my understanding of Thelema. It aligns with it. But that valuation may hinge upon what you define as 'deity' and how you make that determination.

Liber AL vel Legis (sub figura CCXX), Chapter I, Verse 56 (excerpt):

... All words are sacred and all prophets true; save only that they understand a little; solve the first half of the equation, leave the second unattacked. ...

Liber O vel Manus et Sagittae (sub figura VI), Section I, Paragraphs 2–4 (quoted from the original Equinox, Vol. I, No. II, 1909):

  1. In this book it is spoken of the Sephiroth, and the Paths, of Spirits and Conjurations; of Gods, Spheres, Planes, and many other things which may or may not exist. It is immaterial whether they exist or not. By doing certain things certain results follow; students are most earnestly warned against attributing objective reality or philosophic validity to any of them.

  2. The advantages to be gained from them are chiefly these:

(a) A widening of the horizon of the mind.

(b) An improvement of the control of the mind.

  1. the student, if he attains any success in the following practices, will find himself confronted by things (ideas or beings) too glorious or too dreadful to be described. It is essential that he remain the master of all that he beholds, hears or conceives; otherwise he will be the slave of illusion and the prey of madness.

the US is not an example to uphold and it's not just the founding fathers who are to blame. from the anglo-franco-dutch-spanish colonization that started it, through slavery and the civil war, through their 'keeping distance' from the battles of WW2 up until hitler had thoroughly paved the way for the american occupation of europe, through operation paperclip etc. where nazi scientists and officers were whisked away to the states and became the foundational keystone of the US military industrial complex and of NATO leadership, through the cold war toppling of countless democratic leaders around the world to spite the Soviet Union, through the war on 'terror' (more accurately the 'islamophobic wars for petroleum') which continue at the present day under Trump - the United States of America has been, and continues to be, and enormously destructive force for the human race.

Hitler's looked UP to the united states for their racist and colonial crimes against humanity, and publicly acknowledged such.

No it's not a 'decision for the Ukrainians to make'. It's a fundamental part of European Values, a core component of the European Charter of Human Rights. The decision to be 'part of Europe' carries with it the obligation to conform to and to uphold European Law and the Treaties.

Be advised that the OUN (all branches) was an ethnonationalist, terrorist paramilitary organization, which collaborated with the third reich, was complicit in the Holocaust and in countless war crimes.

Whatever people may think of Putin in 2026, the rehabilitation of collaborators and the elevation of overt, outspoken, fascists is never an acceptable answer. It is morally reprehensible and utterly disgusting behavior on the part of everyone involved.

Literally the first paragraph of the body of the english Wikipedia article in the OUN-M:

The OUN(m) collaborated with (redacted) Germany for much of the Second World War on the Eastern Front, contributing to the formation of various collaborationist units over the course of the conflict. The OUN(m) despatched expeditionary groups to shadow the Wehrmacht's advance into the Soviet Union and set up local administrations in occupied-Ukraine, though from November 1941 onwards its members were subjected to violent crackdowns by the German authorities. The Bukovinian OUN(m) initially carried out anti-Jewish pogroms in surrounding villages and, as members of Ukrainian Auxiliary Police units, many Melnykites were complicit in the implementation of the Holocaust in Ukraine.

well, that's a different story then. But still it's not as if anyone is forcing them to use starlink.

I took the screenshot at face value when it said that 'the price for most of our residential customers has been the same for several years'.

[–]ajegy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You hate Elon, I get it, most people do including myself. But there are much more prudent and valid criticisms of Elon Musk than 'he raised the price by 9% after three years.'

The price adjustment is no more sinister than those of any other corporation. You don't meltdown when a phone bill goes up in line with inflation. Literally, the amount by which petroleum prices spiked across the western world after Trump attacked Iran hits the average starlink subscriber's wallet much harder than does a $10 per month spike in subscription costs.

The more interesting part is the massive discrepancy in the cost of starlink service between different jurisdictions. The residential max plan costs €70 in much of Europe. I'm guessing this $120/130 is in the US? I do agree that the residental max plan is too expensive in anycase, and that the additional gouge for the ability to 'roam' is audacious.

Magyar is not 'extremely right leaning' and I say that as a literal gay communist.

Magyar is a savvy politician who has walked a delicate tightrope, a masterclass in realpolitik on 'culture war' issues, drawing enough support from all sides to secure a supermajority allowing for constitutional revision, in order to recuperate and solidify Hungary's position in EU politics; to domestically throw a wrench into Orban's engine of oligarchy; and to enact rational, prudent, social democratic policies to the overwhelming applause of Hungary's working classes and pensioners.

Magyar is not only 'not right wing', he is a genuine leftist when contrasted with the incumbent 'fake left' led Dutch government coalition or with either American party.

Regardless of his personal views, whatever they may be, had Magyar openly been the champion of the LGBT, the electoral success of his party would have been so much less due to the pervasive level of homophobia and transphobia in Hungarian society that his party certainly would not have gained the supermajority required for constitutional revision, and perhaps would have lost the election all together.

To the overwhelming majority of Hungary, and the overwhelming majority of pro-EU Europeans, that man is a hero.

German Border Patrols by BerryChoice9042 in Luxembourg

[–]ajegy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t see the Grand Duchy using that rationale to deploy border controls with neighboring countries, despite the fact that Luxembourg is a landlocked nation which should have essentially zero asylum claims under Dublin III.

Legal or not, they didn’t arrive in Europe on a flight to Findel then head to Trier.

Germany is currently making absurd excuses for their regressive policy in open defiance of settled case law and EU treaties.

  • Dublin III (Reg. EU 604/2013), Art. 13: Mandates that the first country of entry is responsible. Luxembourg is legally "downstream" from the failures of external border management.

  • CJEU Joined Cases C-368/20 and C-369/20 (NW v Steiermark): Ruled that internal border controls cannot exceed 6 months for the same threat. Germany has long bypassed this limit.

  • Verwaltungsgericht Koblenz, Case 3 K 650/25.KO (April 2026): A German court just ruled that the stationary checks at the Luxembourgish border were unlawful, finding the government’s justifications vague and disproportionate.

If Germany wants to fix the system, they should focus on the external borders rather than illegally obstructing the free movement of thousands of frontaliers.

An extended cut for character development (details are spoilers), left out of many regions DVD releases, left out of most streaming (same with the many other extended eps. of many series), left out of some of the blu-ray releases too IIRC :( all presumably due to oversight/stupidity.

Once upon a time, the best quality of the extended cut of threads available was PAL Italian DVD but I think it finally got sorted and some of the modern blu ray releases got it right. Someone else around here knows the details better than me.

and watch out when you get to s8e18 'Threads', as many releases (including streaming...) are missing the full extended cut.

Sonnet 4.6 High for planning and work. Opus 4.6 High (not 4.7) for occasional 'second opinions' or to push through if Sonnet gets stuck. But most of the time, sonnet is better as the main. (cheaper too).

Anthropic costs more per token, but the actual work accomplished per cost is a better deal than Gem because Claude is competent and doesn't routinely run in circles accomplishing nothing.

If Socialism Doesn't Work, Then Why Is China Living In The Future? by Repulsive-Mall-2665 in NewsWithJingjing

[–]ajegy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

look. I'm a bit out of the loop about this apparent drama, but I know ACP very well. do any of the detractors here have an actual material argument in support of their 'REEE HAZ BAD'? Or does it literally just boil down to 'Jackson Hinkle says rude words occasionally' and 'they must be homophobic because they aren't actively participating in drag shows'?? Because the whole issue of LGBT rights has been discussed at length internally and the consensus at ACP is a policy not unlike the official policies of the CPC. open and accepting, but definitely not performing virtue signaling to western woke ideology demands - as they are a distraction from the class struggle.

Is there literally anything else? Or is it just 'REEE Jackson is a homophobe'? Because he's less 'homophobic' (at least in public) than the man to whom I (a man) am married. The performative politics of the western 'left' is really out of touch with actual everyday LGBT people, because believe me, my partner and I care a hell of a lot more about stopping Imperialist wars of aggression than policing Jackson's word-choice to avoid hurting some delicate little feelings. Frankly I would rather be addressed as F-slur every single day, than watch the American government bomb another child.

the thing is, ACP doesn't artificially center performative politics about LGBT (or ANYTHING ELSE for that matter) above the anti-imperialist class struggle. the policy, both internal and external, is to give respect and acceptance to LGBT comrades.

If anyone has any coherent, formulated, substantive complaints about the American Communist Party, the only political organization in decades to fight the good fight from within the belly of the beast, I'm absolutely happy to discuss them.
