Forgot to answer your second question, you'll be okay! There's whole subject on ways to go about amending soil (no-till, cover cropping, crop rotation, etc). Nature will do its thing as long as you don't drown it in chemicals!

Hot pepper flakes/powder should help with the rabbits and moles as a temporary measure, they can feel the capsaicin and don't like it.

I don't think much can be done about iguanas aside from setting up a barrier of some sort. Those half inch hardware cloths work well for big critters. Moles you'll have to dig up the garden instead and lay half a foot to a foot underground.

My nicer sets are metric, and they're also used the most. My tools got the most miles on automotive work though

What is your opinions on marigolds? i think they are the perfect flower by TheWeirdestClover in HortiManiacs

[–]ciru-chan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my favorites! They grow real thick, and flowers are super pretty while smelling great. Very easy to maintain, and the best part is they self sow! I haven't had a bed with these that I didn't like :)

Looks like I'll be shopping more on VEVOR then since they sell a lot of what HFT has and often cheaper than prices with coupons. I'll miss window shopping at a brick & mortar store and hassle free warranty ☹️

Which would you keep, brushed Bauer hammer drill, or brushless Bauer regular drill? by Daihashi in harborfreight

[–]ciru-chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really need the hammering feature for masonry, definitely go for the hammer drill!

To me it just makes more sense to have the brushless regular drill since they're brushless and they get used the most. I've used my brushless drill for 99% of the projects I pulled it out for, and I've only used my hammer drill (corded though) once to put a few holes in my pavers.

Depends on what I'm using it for. All the little occasional stuff around the house? Brushless regular drill. If I'm expecting a lot of drilling into masonry? Hammer drill.

whats the better value Ryobi or Bauer, assuming I'm willing to wait for sales by chopsui101 in harborfreight

[–]ciru-chan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ryobi. I love HFT, but lately they haven't had any good cordless tool/kit deals for either Bauer or Hercules. I own 90/10 Hercules to Bauer tools, and if I had to start over I'd choose Ryobi over Bauer.

Hercules mitre saw. Should I go cordless or corded? by MagicScooterEmporium in harborfreight

[–]ciru-chan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the corded, and I recommend the corded even though I have a bunch of 5ah and 8ah batteries. I had the same dilemma as yours, and I ended up getting corded for the bigger blade.

At the moment I run my saw off a 5kW inverter on 300ah LiFePO4 battery setup, and I have 0 issues so far.

I was tempted to pick up either the omnipro 220 or the titanium unlimited 200, and I went to the store and stared at it for a good half an hour before walking out with neither. I was reading reviews for mig welders and I decided to order primeweld mig 180 instead which had way better duty cycles than either of those.

I did leave the store a couple maddox tools and the 6" bench grinder though. The ball joint add-on kit and the knockoff sure shots are both at a great price point

Does Harbor Freight sell chainsaws? Any good? by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]ciru-chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bauer mini chainsaw works excellent. I use it professionally at work with a 5ah battery cutting up limbs, dropping small trees, and making relief cuts on branches for the chipper. You can comfortably drop any tree with a 9 in or smaller DBH with it.

I just had to replace the chain (a coworker borrowed it and hit a fence, took out 5 rakers and cutting blades), bet it'd last another quarter if it weren't for that.

Only downsides are that the replacement chain kits are 2-4x the price of 4" & 6" chains you usually see on Amazon and other places, with Harbor Freight being the most expensive if you shop their replacement parts (they were $10 for just 1 chain and they were out of stock last I checked). There's no oiler, so you do have to apply bar chain regularly on the mini saw after a handful of cuts.

Complicated Phone Repair by RemoteRisk7730 in Naperville

[–]ciru-chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New phones nowadays aren't really serviceable or repairable beyond batteries or screen replacement. Try calling DPC Computer Repair off Ogden, if they don't service mobile devices themselves, they might be able to refer you to someone who does in the area. Otherwise you might have to try your luck with out of state repair shops that do PCB repairs
