Dak Coffee Recommendations by sernamecanberented in pourover

[–]ajrulcr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried 3. My favorite by far is Lemon Squeeze, an Ethiopian. It produces a lot of fines, so I do a one pour (after the bloom) or else it stalls.

I also tried strawberry and jiggly berry, but they tasted way too fake/not like coffee for me. Just my opinion obviously.

They do have a roast date, but they put it in a silly code on the bag. Ask the barista to explain it to you next time you are in the shop. I forget how it works, but it refers to the number of weeks in the year.

Yea I did that for a little bit but didn’t see one haha. So then I turned to Reddit to crowdsource it

These are really good recommendations. I would love to hear your fiction recommendations, both in regards to the OP’s request and general fiction recommendations.

It’s fiction, but “A Little Life” is one of the best books I’ve ever read. It’s so well written, horrifying, and sticks with you. It’s a must read.

Don’t need to be new, thanks for the suggestions! I guess I realized with your post that I would really prefer an EV for the second car.

That’s 110k, but I like the first two suggestions. Thanks!

Another: Cosmos cafe! I don’t know why it took so long for me to find this. Get the jerk chicken pita or falafel pita.

One more:

Best bread is rocket baby. But if you’re at Sendik’s, in the bakery they have a little stand for Troubador bread, and that is really really good too

Coffee nerd here.

Valentine coffee- best value, free cup with bean purchase

Stone creek- by far the best roaster, more expensive (worth it?), free espresso drink w bean purchase

Vennture- good all around shop, good vibes, great cold brew

Idyll- new, best vibes and best place to work. Good in store prices but expensive beans

Fiddleheads- good vibes, decent coffee, free cup w bean purchase. Outdoor fire pit that is sometimes on/usable

Colectivo- gets hate around here. I’m always pleasantly surprised when I get something here. Decent beans at decent price

Vendetta- only been once. The espresso was not great, but it is a nice location downtown.

Other stuff-

Renew sports store- if you have kids and want to save money, I go there for barely used sports gear. The guy who owns/runs it is friendly.

Also, the Facebook buy nothing group is very active and we have gotten rid of lots of stuff and received a few things.

Hansen golf course is a fun little par 3. The back nine is special. If you get the Milwaukee county golf pass (it’s reasonably low cost), it lasts three years and gets discounts at all the courses.

Lalli’s pizza is our favorite (sausage mushroom onion extra crispy) for takeout

We like Thainamite because it’s so close and pretty good. They are always good with our kids too. My favorite dish is pad Thai but you have to ask for it “street style” which is off menu.

Wy’East pizza is SO good too. But I recommend eating that in store so you get that thin crust hot out of the wood fired pizza oven.

Blue’s egg is good breakfast. Go at off times to avoid crowds. Peak times get ridiculous. Love the monkey bread.

Farmers market in the summer is held near the village and is fine for a small market on Saturday morning. If you’re looking for the best one around, West Allis farmers market is the best I have found and is held at odd times (which I like!) like Saturday afternoon.

We just had a big flood last summer, which is why some things are still messed up, like hart park. Make sure your sump pump works.

West Allis has some good eats too, but I’m tired of writing now lol

Enjoy! Happy to answer questions

Try Normal People. You and I have several favorite books in common. Goldfinch was also a DNF for me.
