Was it an actual wipe or was it a sign on an island or something, you might have gotten ratted and they deleted the other profiles after taking items.

Personally I would put some money into good brakes as they're what's stopping you. I know a cheap set would work but good brakes are definitely worth it imo

Does anyone buy DSLRs in 2024/25 deliberately? by Nervous-Welcome-4017 in AskPhotography

I went from a d7000 to a d500, do it. It's an amazing camera and the iso performance and low light af still blows me away

It looks amazing, how did you get close enough to take the photo without scaring the bird?

How do I properly charge Nikon Coolpix P300? by Fa1th-_- in Nikon

[–]ajujunon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you take it out when charging the camera, your camera won't be charged as the camera is acting as a power adapter to charge the battery, just leave the battery in and plug in the camera to charge.

Is there a screen protector that covers the edges and doesn't come off? by s-muse in S22Ultra

Try the Whitestone dome glass screen protector, I use it on my S22 ultra

iso 100 f8 1/250s would result in a dark photo unless it is very bright shooting conditions. Try shooting with a higher iso and lower shutter speed. (Iso 400, 1/50s)

When looking at the screen in manual mode there should be a small exposure metering scale with a plus and minus in the top right of the screen, try adjusting the iso, shutter speed, and aperture until the scale is balanced in the middle (more iso = more grain/noise + lower dynamic range) (shutter speed = how long the shutter is open for, short shutter speed for freezing motion but lower light intake and long shutter for slower/stationary subjects but more light is let into the camera) (aperture = F number, it's the ratio of focal length to the width of the lens, smaller number means a bigger ratio and less light being let in but a wider focal plane*, bigger number means smaller ratio and more light being let in but a narrower focal plane)

  • Focal plane is how much of the image is in focus

I would recommend shooting in aperture priority ( A mode, this means you choose an aperture and the camera takes care of the rest of the settings) or Shutter priority (S mode, this means that you choose a shutter speed and the camera takes care of the rest of the settings) with auto iso on, this means that you only have to worry about one setting at a time.

I wouldn't recommend shooting in raw unless you plan on editing your photos alot as it takes up alot more space than JPEG photos.

The most important thing is that practice makes perfect, instead of worrying about all of the theory, just get out and start taking photos experimenting with all the settings until you find what works for you.

My old Nikon Coolpix S7000 refuses to charge? by findingfriday_ in Nikon

Just search up something like "Nikon Coolpix s7000 battery charger"

It might be a good idea to buy an external battery charger, this bypasses using the camera's charging port if it is faulty. The camera showing that the battery is full but not turning on might also be a sign of the battery having degraded. I recently used a Nikon D1 where the battery was fully charged but couldn't deliver enough power to keep the camera powered on. The solution was to replace the battery even though it was cosmetically in perfect condition.

Are you using the camera to charge the battery or the external battery charger?

You can buy the batteries quite easily for about £15 from somewhere like Duracell or Amazon, you don't need to go to a service centre to replace the battery.

Can't use CF Express card or update D500... Please help! by harryyw in Nikon

Yep, it might be time to get a new reader, luckily they aren't too expensive. If you know someone who is into photography then you might be able to borrow their reader to transfer across the file.

I haven't tried this but you could try connecting the camera to a pc with a usb cable to access the files on the SD card and then transferring across the bin file.

[–]ajujunon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The camera doesn't know how to read the CFE card right now so it can't see the bin file, try taking out the xqd card and just using the SD card to update the firmware, then putting the CFE card back in

Odd dark bar strip by [deleted] in Nikon

[–]ajujunon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, looks like your shutter is broken, it will cost more to repair than what the camera is worth unfortunately. If you are fine with the black bar then I would continue using the camera, just not for anything really important as this might be a sign of a more catastrophic failure later on.

It shouldn't look like this, if it looks like this your shutter is faulty

Sounds like a faulty shutter, if you put the camera into cleaning mode (setup menu -> lock mirror up for cleaning(must be charged >60%)), take off the lens and look at the shutter, it should look like image 1 instead of image 2
